This is in no particular order, and certainly incomplete. There is lots of Eric Clapton stuff that ought to be a lot longer, and Mark Knoppfler/Dire Straits, as well as lots more classical stuff (like Albinoni, Boccherini, Rossini, and pretty much anything by Vivaldi.)

Great concept! I would add the following.

King Crimson - Larks Tongues in Aspic II

Pink Floyd - Echoes

Holst - Jupiter, the Bringer of Joy

The Who - Magic Bus

Miles Davis - Jack Johnson

John Coltrane - Pick One and I'll agree!

This is an interesting concept... I think I would like to make a lot of songs last for hours. Pink Floyd's "Dogs" and Dire Straits' "Telegraph Road" immediately come to my mind.

It is interesting, however, that many songs seem to shrink in length after a while. I remember listening to "Dogs" for the first time and thinking how it went on forever (actually about 17 minutes). And then the next few times I listened to it, I enjoyed every moment of it and wished it would last forever.

But once I got to know the song, it seemed to shrink with every listening and that really made me sad. Now when I listen to "Dogs", it seems to end in just a few minutes. I guess the magic is just gone.

Ah, I wish it would last forever again...

i'm with you on telegraph road, though it already lasts almost that much

Might I suggest the 'you-know-which' section from Pink Floyd's One Of These Days.
