Author Comments:

the F--- song is absolutely bizarre. have a listen, shall we?

I actually like the Norah Jones cover. Who would of thunk A Hank Williams tune would sound good as a cocktail jazz rendition. But it works.

yes, definitely. Hank seems to lend himself to a lot of interpretations. I love the The's cover of Honky Tonkin', also.

The Mann cover of "One" was written and performed by Harry Nilsson.Three Dog Night had the hit with it.

I would have included:
-Elliott Smith - Thirteen (Big Star)
-Jeff Buckley - Farwell, Angelina (Bob Dylan)
-Rufus Wainwright - Across the Universe (Beatles)
-Cat Power - I Found a Reason (Velvet Underground)
-Otis Redding - (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction (Rolling Stones)
-Echo & the Bunnymen - People are Strange (The Doors)

Hated Pearl Jam's cover of "Last Kiss." Loved Lauryn Hill. Also, Johnny Cash was more badass than usual in covering NIN. Heard the video was something to see, too.

The Suicide machines - never promised you a rose garden its a great song

If it was me, I'd have to add "Comfortably Numb", as covered by the Scissor Sisters. It is both irreverent and reverent at the same time, transforming the song to their own sound and yet remaining true to the original.

In the same vein, I believe that Friday on My Mind or Sorrow are both excellent covers by David Bowie, and just his whole "Pinups" album.

I like the Sid Vicious cover of "My Way" By old blue eyes.
