Everyone I know--even the folks who don't really enjoy watching movies--have seen classic old movies such as Casablanca and Gaslight. This list is an attempt to suggest a few that you might have missed at the video store. They are all terrific--some of them for an outstanding element (Black Narcissus for making the setting one of the major characters), some for the fun (To Catch a Thief), and some are just great all the way around (12 Angry Men).
I added the years because I'm not sure which of these have been remade--and you know as well as I that which version you watch makes all the difference. And I put them in date order so you might have an idea what you are in for.
Finally, I realize that you might not think that a movie made in 1976 should be classified as an "oldie." Surprise! That was almost 25 years ago.
