Some of My favorite Movie characters of all-time

Tags:
  • Mr. Pink, played by Steve Buscemi, from Resevoir Dogs~ He's the guy you love to hate in the movie. He steals the show. Buscemi has a nack for playing dirty, heelish characters and he shines here. Panicky and underhanded, he's a delight to hate. Has hilarious lines and is realistic.
  • Inigo Montoya, played by Mandy Patinkin, from The Princess Bride~ If you haven't seen this movie (which everyone has) you should. very cute, very funny, very entertaining. Inigo starts out as a henchman for one of the antagonists, but becomes a strong ally to Wesley, the hero. Patinkin's chemisty with Andre the Giant is golden here, and his character I think is the most intriguing of the bunch. The final battle with him is the climax, and his fight scenes rule. Very fun.
  • Seth Gecko, played by Quentin Tarantino, in From Dusk Till Dawn~ For my complete thoughts on this movie, head over to my content section and check out my article about it, but I think Tarantino's character was the highlight of the movie. I've read people's thoughts on this movie who bash Quentin's acting all to hell, but I personally thought he was great. He plays a criminal with a very disturbed past of sexual offenses. But as much as you want to dislike him, you see him interact with his brother, played by George Clooney, and you see he's just a big 'ol pushover and is alomost kind of sweet. But then that major flaw justs hits you again and you think about what terrible things he does, and it makes his character thrilling to watch.
  • Lenny Haise, played by Steve Zahn, from That Thing You Do~ Tom Hanks least favorite movie he ever did, and one of my favorites. Lenny was just a nut in this movie and Zahn really shined...or shone....whatever....in this movie. Great lines of, "...presidential flashcards?" and countless others.
  • Louis Gara, played by Robert De Niro, from Jackie Brown~ Funny guy. Who knew De Niro could be so funny? Without even trying either...but he had the funniest scene I have ever seen in my life When he's getting Bridget Fonda from behind after hitting the bong with her, and he's wheezing and coughing and she turns around and says, "You done?" De Niro nods and pulls his pants up, and Fonda says in a very bored tone, "...Well that was fun." and walks out of the room. Hystarical.
  • Apollo Creed, played by Carl Weathers, from Rocky-Rocky IV~ I forget how much I love all the Rocky movies. Call me crazy, but I think they're all pretty good. Even V. The first time I saw any of them was a few years back when they showed all 5 movies on television one day and I sat through all of them. Yeah, ALL of them, with commercials. God, that was like all day, but I still enjoyed them. Apollo was just the coolest character to me. He was the most charasmatic, best played (by Mr. Wheathers) and just most interesting. I love Rocky and Apollo's relationship and when he dies in part IV it is definetly a sad moment.
  • Santino 'Sonny' Corleone, played by James Caan, from The Godfather~ He should be at the top of the list. One of my stand-out favorites. He just enthralls me. the first Godfather was amazing with Caan, Pacino, and Brando going all-out in thier roles. Just a delight to watch the hothead Sunny blow and regain his composure, and he just says the everything so cool. You know he's got that major flaw with his tempur, but you can't help but love him. If I ever have a son I will name Santino.
  • Randle Patrick McMurphy, played by Jack Nicholson, from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest~ First off, Nicholson is the man. I have said this before and it remains true. Second, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is a phenominal movie. The ending brought tears to my eyes. Its beyond description. Nicholson was perfect for the role and played everything just right. you could never tell if McMurphy really had it together of not.
  • Jake "J.J." Geddes, played by Jack Nicholson, from Chinatown~ If a movie has Jack Nicholson, its almost assured to be a very memorable character. But Jake was just cool. He was not only thee best detective, but at the same time a terrible one. My favorite thing about him is whenever he'd get in a fight he'd go straight to kneeing the person in the balls. He took no shit and fought dirty. He was a human character with flaws, but still admirable. Awesome character.

These are characters in movies I found over-all very enjoyable and entertaining, and deserve recognition.

Yup, love all these ones! Except, I haven't seen From Dusk Till Dawn - any good (besides Seth Gecko)?

Well, you should either see it for yourself without knowing anything (one of my favorites things to do, I love seeing movies knowing zero about them) or check out my review of it. But I'll say here that George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino are awesome, as well as Juliette Lewis and Harvey Kietel, and the first half of the film is amazing.

wow,i like all of those, De Niro played lewis character so well. great choices. you say you didnt like dusk till dawn? i thuoght it was "good"

No, its not that I didn't like From Dusk Till Dawn, I thought it was good, in the first half. The second half was pretty mindless. But I adore the first half of the film very much so.

finally someone who appreciates all the rocky movies... sure they degenerate in quality as they go on... but they are all really good... the first is amazing though

Boxing movies are usually really good. Or at least I think so. I don't know why two people beating the shit out of each other and then still being friendly is so interesting, but it is. God, I don't think I could take all those punches to the face.
