Some Lines from Some Songs I Like

  • Cigarettes and chocolate milk: these are just a couple of my cravings. Everything it seems I like's a little bit stronger, a little bit fatter, a little bit deadly for me. - Rufus Wainwright, Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk

  • "Kathy, I'm lost" I said, though I knew she was sleeping. "I'm empty and aching and I don't know why." - Paul Simon, America

  • Anyone perfect must be lying, anything easy has its cost - Barenaked Ladies, Falling for the First Time
  • (More BNL, sorry) I thought that you would be begging to be with me. I'm the one on my knees blubbering 'Please let me stay'. Deflated, and jaded. I hate it when you call (which isn't at all). - Barenaked Ladies, Thanks That Was Fun

My first clone! Thanks Buber!
These are some lines that really hit home with me, though I'm really not as depressed as these lines suggest. It just seems that depression brings out some really great writing in people.

Wow, thank you! :)

I don't know how often you still check up on Listology, or if you abandoned this list long ago, but I stumbled upon this list and feel obligated to point out that "A marathon of heartbreaking moments" is from BNL's "I Live With It Every Day" from their Born on a Pirate Ship album.

Great quotes. Isn't it "harmful for me," though?

Sorry, but the Rufus fanatic in me has to point out the brilliant consonance in that line.

Hmm. Two mistakes on a list by an obviously intelligent person. Are you f*&^ing with us?

Yes, it is. I've kind of put an amalgam of a few lines there, as later in the song it's "deadly for me".

And as for the mistakes, the first one was a quick post which I meant to research the answer for, and the second was actually a deliberate choice, since I kind of like the "deadly" line a little bit more. But yes, it's generally a bit of laziness on my part to do the necessary research that leads to mistakes.
