some albums that i really like ( RANDOM ORDER)

Tags:
  • van der graaf generator-pawn hearts: one of my favourite records. this is seventies progressive rock, but not like yes or pink floyd. much more better and experimental. in my opinion this is the best vdgg album
  • van der graaf generator- who am the only one: also really good. peter hammil sings so beautifull on this one
  • mars volta-frances the mute: second release from mars volta. noisy experimental rock. i cant explain this so much. fantastic theme album. just listen
  • biosphere-substrata: this is one of the few ambient albums that i have heard. brings many images. listen it with headphones, and eyes closed i think its amazing.
  • godspeed you black emperor-lift your skinny fists like antennas to heaven: instrumental post rock maybe. this double cd is so beautifull music. three guitars, cellos and violins, drums, two bass players. this is powerfull music.
  • cure- pornography: impressive, dark. robert smith is one of the best singers
  • black sabbath-vol 4: only heavy band i listen. ozzy is original singer, and tony iommi plays amazing riffs
  • pink floyd- the wall: this is really concept album. you have to listen it whole.
  • pink floyd-dark side of the moon: this is classic album. concept album about madness
  • biosphere-shenzou: another from biosphere. i love it
  • king crimson- in the court of the crimson king
  • joy division-closer
  • camel- music inspired by snow goose
  • godspeed you black emperor-yaunqui u.x.o
  • jethro tull- thick as a brick
  • cure- disintergration
  • pink floyd- animals
  • pink floyd- wish you were here

Some excellent choices, especially VDGG.
I've seen Peter Hammill live (solo) three times (1973, 2003, 2044), and also (twice) caught VDGG on their current reunion tour, and also have tickets for them in Manchester on 13th November 2005. For me it's hard to chose between Pawn Hearts and Still Life. See my Concert Calendar.
I've been meaning to get biosphere-substrata.

they must have been amazing gigs. still life is great, but in my opinion i think it has less intresting sounds. substrata is really good

It's nice to meet another ambient fan :) :) :) Truly fantastic music, so underrated.

i havent heard so much ambient music, but what i have heard has been amazing. i agree its really underrated
