You're all invited to this week long film festival celebrating the Seven Deadly Sins! Feel free to post your choices below, or in a list of your own.
Edited to add: Since a few mentioned fest-ending features, I thought I'd cap off the week with something appropriate. Sorry, no cartoon short, I couldn't think of one.

Very clever, indeed. Well done. I think I might have to cap the week with films that cover the gamut: perhaps Throne of Blood or maybe just The Godfather Series?
...or Se7en.
Very cool list.
I may have to steal the idea but I dont think you can come up with a better movie for Greed.
Thanks! I had a couple of choices for Greed, but ended up settling on Sierra Madre for fairly obvious Bogartesque reasons. The film Greed, by von Stroheim, is an easy pick, but I haven't seen it yet. A Fish Called Wanda works, too.
(Note: Don't let the fact that I've listed those films here prevent anybody from picking them for their own lists. There will be other lists, right??)
Great idea for a list! Falling Down might be a good candidate for "Anger" (but not better than your choice). A Simple Plan or Shallow Grave could work for "Greed", but this is a pretty easy sin to come up with a million movies for. I'll have to get back to you on "Sloth." The upcoming Troy might be a good candidate for "Pride" depending on how Pitt plays that quintessential hubristic (dontcha love how butcherable English is?) lout Achilles. "Lust" is another one with an overwhelming number of choices. The Talented Mr. Ripley seems like a perfect fit for "Envy." Finally, I love your "Gluttony" choice, although somehow the epicurean delights in that movie didn't seem all that sinful. I can think of other food movies (Like Water for Chocolate, Chocolat, Eat Drink Man Woman), but all have the same problem. How 'bout The Cook, the Thief, his Wife, & her Lover? I haven't seen it, so it's a complete shot in the dark based on the title alone.
Hmm, I guess for Gluttony there's Hannibal, which certainly has a bigger "ick" factor than the other food movies, although it lacks the sheer quantity of food I associate with that sin (I suppose Ray Liotta only has so much brains to go around). And I thought the movie was pretty bad, so that disqualifies it.
I may have to clone this and have a go at it, but I don't know if I can top many of your choices.
Anger: Network
Greed: Wall Street
Sloth: From Hell (perhaps a stretch) Maybe Oliver??
Pride: Picture of Dorian Gray
Lust: Body Heat
Envy: American Pyscho
Gluttony: Eating Raoul or maybe Soylent Green
I'll do two different types of films for each sin, simply because I wouldn't want my festival to be nothing but misery.
Anger: Punch-Drunk Love & Fight Club
Greed: Mildred Pierce & Fargo
Sloth: Do the Right Thing & M*A*S*H
Pride: Ghost World & Ran
Lust: Cabaret & Jules and Jim
Envy: Sweet Smell of Success & Amadeus
Gluttony: King Kong & The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Well, I guess there is a signifigant amount of misery in there anyways. I think Magnolia, Blood Simple, and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? would all be great cappers to the week.
Aren't Murder or Rape Deadly Sins? Gluttony, that's what, Being fat? So Fat people burn in hell, while murderers and rapists walk off scott-free. A screwed-up system as always. But anyway cool list.
I think the seven deadly sins target the impulses that lead to specific actions. They are supposed to be character vices that lead to evil actions, not the actual actions (for example, anger can lead to murder).
In that context, gluttony is more the lack of restraint against one's desires than a state of obesity, and a thin person can still possess the sin.
At least, that's how I read 'em!
Shalom, y'all!
