  • Master and Commander - Very good movie about life upon the high seas in a british naval vessel. Does drag a bit in parts but the action and acting is superb. Probably Russel Crowes best since L.A confidential.
  • Dreamcatcher - Godawful Stephen King adaptation which played like some mixed up self parody of IT, stand by me and Independance day. The plot was so disjointed, it was really just a culmination of horrible scenes, one after the other. Avoid at all costs.
  • Das Experiment - Interesting German movie about a psychological experiment where a group of men have to role play a prison setting for 2 weeks with half as guards and the other half as prisoners. Ofcourse things eventually get out of hand and the experiment turns into a nightmare for the prisoners. Well acted and extremely tense at times. Poses many questions.
  • Basic - Travolta and Jackson finally reunite after Pulp Fiction in a movie which was more like an over-glorified episode of Jag. There were so many twists, it was hard to recall what really happened by the end, either that or i just didn't care. Not horrible, just so so.
  • Lord of the Rings: Return of the King - What can be said? It's over. The movie ended about 14 times before it was over. The final battle was awe inspiring. My only gripe is whatever happened to Saruman wasn't explained very well, if at all. Overall i was very impressed.
  • Traffic - I appreciate what Soderberg was trying to do with this film but to me it seemed flat and contrived. I also found the characters a bit stereotypical. Michael Douglas's speech at the end was laughable. Overall very stylish but not much substance.

I'm glad I'm not the only person disappointed with Traffic. Yes, that speech at the end was silly. Not a bad film, but not the great work many wanted it to be.

I'm loving your comments.

Definately not a bad film. Soderberg's aspirations were just a little too high.
