A better list, at any rate, then the high-cholesterol shitfest that is Gay Cinematherapy (a book my roommate had that was, um, moronic). I like a list that calls the gay on Jackass and Sunrise and is willing to take on the almost assured flak over including stuff wrongly tarred with the label "homophobic" like Cruising.
Still, not much excuse for The Broken Hearts Club, Chuck & Buck and Trick. And some have pointed out the absence of the following (ones I've seen italics):
L'Air de Paris
Ali: Fear Eats the Soul
All That Heaven Allows
Bad Education
Un Chant d'amour
Come Undone
Daughters of Darkness
Desperate Living
Fireworks
Heavenly Creatures
In a Year of 13 Moons
Johnny Guitar
Law of Desire
Ludwig
Martha
Mysterious Skin
Nighthawks
Pink Narcissus
Rocco and His Brothers
Rope
The Scarlet Empress
Scorpio Rising
Son Frere
Strangers on a Train
Talk to Her
Teorema
The Times of Harvey Milk
Tropical Malady
Veronika Voss
Wild Reeds
Wild Side
The Wizard of Oz
and undoubtedly many many others...

Thanks for reading the book!
Before you castigate me for including "The Broken Hearts Club," please read my commentary on it. And your list of exclusions includes several movies I'd like to get to in a sequel, if anyone wants to publish it. In my defense, I left out movies like "Desperate Living" and "Talk to Her" because I didn't want to overload my book with movies by individual filmmakers -- that's why people like John Waters and Pedro Almodóvar (and Todd Haynes and many others) get the "Auteur Alert," wherein I recommend every film they've made even though I chose only one for the book.
Whoa. This response completely slipped by me. I know it didn't come across, but I really did enjoy the book, and the ratio of me going "smart choice" to me going "honky please" was favorable. (The interview on Matt Zoller Seitz's blog sold me.)
Sequel ho!
