  • Leonard Cohen: I'm Your Man - Although it's more of a VH1 documentary of a tribute concert, the interview footage with Leonard Cohen is worth the viewing. Musical highlights include Antony's soulful version of "If it be your will" and Martha Wainright's "The Traitor." Many tears. Astoundingly great song-writer.
  • Who Killed the Electric Car? - As much as "An Inconvenient Truth" horrified and depressed me, "Who Killed the Electric Car?" made me angry. Angry at the corruption (unbelievable conflicts of interest!) that exists in our government and literally impedes any kind of environmental progress. I guess the key after all of these documentaries is figuring out how it will affect your own actions...
  • AUGUST
  • Van Helsing - Couldn't have been more melodramatic or poorly written. What were these actors thinking?!
  • Inconvenient Truth
  • JULY
  • Some Like It Hot - My first time seeing this classic... Some great lines--and of course I enjoyed Tony Curtis' comical impression of Cary Grant.
  • JUNE
  • Capote - Wasn't as gruesome as I expected it to be, and (Rochester-native) Hoffman definitely deserved the Oscar!
  • MAY
  • Thank You for Smoking - Wasn't as hilarious as I wanted it to be but was pretty poignant. Cracked up when I went outside to find a bunch of college kids smoking in front of the theatre--reminded me of how much I wanted french fries after seeing Super-Size Me!
  • Mirrormask - I loved it (but not as much as Labyrinth). Neil Gaiman is my hero, Dave McKean rocks, and props to Jim Henson's crew for creating it.
  • Bound - Didn't like it at all... People told me it was steamy but there was only a few minutes at the beginning and then it was your basic boring mafia show. Disappointing!
  • APRIL
  • Good Night and Good Luck - Great and visually cool but sometimes hard to follow because they talk so fast. Definitely hard-hitting in today's FOX news climate.
  • MARCH
  • Walk the Line - Honestly didn't know much about Johnny Cash before this movie but definitely have a greater appreciation for him and for his wife. And Reese Witherspoon was outstanding! Great movie.
  • Rent - Love the musical and it was basically like seeing it again, but without the spoken stuff being sung too. And of course I blubbered, but then I cried when I saw the preview in the theatre too!
  • FEBRUARY
  • Thumbsucker - I loved the main character but felt frustrated through the whole thing. Keanu Reeves was laughable but thankfully not in it all that much.
  • Henry & June - Slightly disappointing and long. Never been a big Uma fan, but Maria de Medeiros as Anais was pretty impressive.
  • What the #$*! Do We (K)now!? - My second time viewing and although I still recommend it, I was disheartened by some research I did into its origins.
  • NOT SURE WHEN...
  • DaVinci Code
  • Chicken Little
  • Narnia: The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe
