  • Frankly I was rather suspicious about this film. Oh, of course, this film was the best of the year for many critics, but that doesn't necessarily mean that I like the movie, too (for instance: Pulp Fiction!). But everything just seems to be perfect in this amazing masterpiece. Above all the actors' performances are mesmerizing. I think Ellen Burstyn would really have deserved her second Academy Award for her part here. Sorry, Julia. But the other actors (Leto, Connelly and, for once, Wayans) are also convincing nevertheless. Another great pro for this film is its first-class-screenplay. I have rarely seen such an involving script. I mean it was quite 'dangerous' to make such a movie, because the theme is in fact not really new, but director Darren Aronofsky managed to avoid every stereotype in this genre. The film music is also unforgettable, as memorable as the last ten minutes of this great film nobody should miss...
  • Great

  • Memento
  • Not easy to follow, but hey, that's what makes the film so original and unique.
  • Very Good

  • Small Time Crooks
  • Sometimes I think that I'm the only one who really likes this comedy by Woody Allen. Ok, the plot isn't exceptional, but there are many, very funny jokes and the actors are hilarious.
  • Chocolat
  • Sometimes I just need flicks like this one. The film may be predictable, but the chemistry between Johnny Depp and the marvellous Juliette Binoch is fantastic.
  • Good

  • Cast Away
  • Often illogical, but Hanks is fabulous.
  • Erin Brockovich
  • Not really being a fan of Soderbergh, I somehow enjoyed this very human picture with Julia Roberts in her best role.
  • Les Rivières Pourpres
  • Jean Reno and Benoît Magimel are excellent in this unoriginal, but incredibly thrilling and well-thought French movie at Hollywood standard.
  • Space Cowboys
  • This may definetly not be Eastwood's best (Mystic River, Unforgiven), but the cast is exceptional. For me, it was a great pleasure to see Sutherland, Garner, Jones and Eastwood in many self-ironic moments on the screen. Only the sentimental and pathetic end is nerving.
  • Traffic
  • I dunno...this film just didn't get me, that means not really. The actors are all in all very good (Douglas, Del Toro, Zeta-Jones) and the screenplay is very special too, but the rest just let me cold.
  • Chicken Run
  • Funny with many good jokes, but by far not as hilarious as 'Wallace & Gromit'.
  • Frequency
  • The idea has got a lot of potential, but it later turns out as a mixture of thriller and drama. Finally one has seen a good motion picture, that could have been much better.
  • Meet the Parents
  • Why did I like this comedy? Answer: Robert DeNiro!
  • Miss Congeniality
  • See 'Meet the Parents', but instead of DeNiro, put Michael Caine.
