- Ginger Snaps - Don't come into this one expecting Scream or anything as heavy handidly tounge-in-cheek. It can be unpleasent and brutal at times (not for the dog lover at points), but this is a gem of a movie. Exploring issues of teenagedom without the usual sarcasm or faux hipness, Ginger Snaps is a work of art in many ways. Presenting itself as a horror film to some and as a character and gender study to others, this picture can give you the willies and also make you think. For those who are looking for an interesting film and can stomach gore and emotional violence, dive in.
- Trainspotting - Really, really, really tough going at times, but an important film. My main problem with the film is that its humor relies on bathroom humor or otherwise cliched situational comedy. The real harrowing scenes and the scenes with more emotional gravitas are the ones that make this movie worth watching. While not as preachy as Traffic, Trainspotting has an interesting message. See it, but watch with relative ease. Don't look forward to that one scene you heard so much about. Let the film engulf you, then enjoy.
