Thoughts:
:This was excellent. There wasn't a song I disliked on this CD, these guys are ridiculously consistent. I love their brand of guitar-pop/rock/indie. The lyrics to 'Brian Wilson' and 'If I Had $1000000' are damned hilarious. The songs are all so catchy, I know they'll be on my brain all night. 'Call and Answer' is one of the best songs I've heard in a while. And judging by the two live performances found here, they're excellent live.- Minor negative comments: I found it bizarre that, aside from my favourite track (still 'Falling for the First Time', which I knew previously), this compilation seemed to get better as it went along. I preferred tracks 8-18 than 1-7, as a whole; an unusual trait for a compilation. And 'The Old Apartment', first track, was one of my least favourites, strangely.
- But still, it's strong all through anyway; every song ranges from good to brilliant. I'll have to investigate these guys further. Thanks to Rushmore for recommending this band to me - they're a good find, and go beyond 'One Week'. Excellent stuff.

yay! glad you enjoyed. i agree here on many of your points, Be My Yoko Ono, though funny, is fairly weak. i'm glad you liked What A Good Boy & call & answer, 2 brilliant tracks that really show the skill of BNL. lol did you spot the argos theme tune ? :P hope you continue to enjoy BNL. oh btw, if you like the more fast paced tracks then maroon would be great album to get next. however if you prefered the low key BNL, then gordon (which includes the brilliant "The Flag") or maybe you should drive? (which i haven't heard but people say its a more low key mature BNL)
Yes, Be My Yoko Ono is comparatively weak (though still a solid 8/10). I didn't spot the Argos theme tune - do Argos use a sample from one of them for their adverts or something? :-D
I'll check out a few samples from both Maroon and MYSD at Amazon and see which I think sounds better. But I doubt I'll be getting either for a while; I recently bought a new Bruce Springsteen album, and Guided by Voices' greatest hits, and DVD-wise One Foot In The Grave S4, American Dad S1 and KOTH S6 are all coming up in the next week or so, and I want to get Moonlighting too, so I'm rather strapped for cash. But the good news is I have an HMV voucher (£10) so if I spot either when I go to HMV in Exeter in a couple of weeks time (off on holiday to nearby Exmouth for a few days) I'll buy it.
cool, i agree, 8 still good score. yeah, argos, try..track 11 :P
thats alot of DVDS too buy ! enjoy
Ah yes.. I thought I recognised that chorus/refrain!
Yeah, lots of DVDs. You'd think I was a friggin' TV-DVD-buying machine. Do you have any DVDs coming out soon you plan to buy?
:-)
American Dad possibly, though that lost some appeal with me towards the end. The only recent tv on dvd purchase for me was green wing, so GW series 2 when that comes out. i might check out Smack the pony, because its by makers of green wing, and green wing is so damn good. Frasier is on my hitlist, season 5 and 6 of raymond, 7 and 8 of cheers, also one foot in the grave dvds have taken my fancy.
Jane and Alternative Girlfriend--great songs. Well, really, BNL only makes good songs. But those tracks, along with most of Maybe You Should Drive, are phenomenal, in my opinion. Definitely check out MYSD if you ever get a chance.
