Author Comments:
Polanski loves dark themes; even before the murder of his wife Sharon Tate, he was exploring the darkness within man. His fleeing from Hollywood (on a statutory rape conviction) put him in decline for a good time, but he’s returned to glory with the recent The Pianist. Here’s how his films rate.
I've rated the films from a zero (horrible!) to four (wonderful!) star scale, with the links going to my reviews. As usual, I've only included films I've seen.

What didn't you like about Knife in the Water?
I didn't not like it; it was an interesting film. That being said, it's not nearly the most interesting film in its genre (the lovers triangle), it has a definite low budget feel (to a detrimental degree), and the actors are a bit out of their league (and in a three character movie, that's not a good thing). I do like overall story arc, and there are some good shot composition moments. So, overall, it's worth a viewing, but it pales in comparison to other Polanski works.
