Rating the Films: Paul Thomas Anderson

PT Anderson enjoys making the sprawling fictional biopic, usually focusing on one (lost) man’s perspective in a large group of characters. He’s had some fair success with the few films he’s made, and like many directors of his kind, has a retinue of actors that he frequently casts. This is how his films rate.

I've rated the films from a zero (horrible!) to four (wonderful!) star scale, with the links going to my reviews. As usual, I've only included films I've seen.

Hard Eight is a film that doesn't get talked about a whole lot, but I think it works really well. Punch Drunk Love showed that Adam Sandler has at least a little acting talent, and the use of Shelley Duval's "He Needs Me" was an inspired choice.

I'll be curious to see how you rate Magnolia.

I think Hard Eight is an amazing film; truly outstanding filmmaking.
