- Movies With Great Premises But Horrible Execution of Said Premise
- The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (Great characters from classic literature get together to fight crime? Sounds good to me! I haven't seen it, but it got horrible reviews.)
- Loose Cannons (Dan Aykroyd plays a schizophrenic whose personalities are television characters? Buy me a ticket! Oh, but wait, this movie is horrible.)
- The One (Killing alternate versions of yourself can make one stronger, so evil Jet Li goes on a killing spree? The premise sounds awesome, but this movie got horrible reviews.)
- Prizzi's Honor (Hit man and hit woman in love? And they find out they've been contracted to kill each other? Sounds great! But this movie is really bad.)
- Sour Grapes (Larry David directs a Seinfeld-esque dark comedy about two brothers feuding over a Vegas win? Sounds hilarious! But guess what - it sucks.)

- Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure (thanks to professor)
- Casablanca (If you think about it, the premise of this movie is rather uninspiring. But the movie turned out amazing.)
- It Happened One Night (Runaway rich girl meets newspaper reporter? Ehh... But it turned out awesome thanks to a hilarious script and great performances.)
- Speed (thanks to professor)
- Talk to Her (Yeah, two women in comas. So what? But it turned out to be one of the best movies of recent years.)

I haven't quite gotten this list underway quite yet, but I promise I'll think of some good additions over the weekend. Feel free to make suggestions in the meantime.

Movies With Uninspiring Premises But Excellent Execution of Said Premise:
Speed
The Matrix
Bob and Ted
I'm gonna have to disagree with you on "The Matrix", I think the premise is very cool. But I'll put the others up.
What is Bob and Ted?
You know, come to think of it, I have no idea. The IMDB doesn't have a movie with that title... were you thinking of "Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice", professor? Or the only other one I could think of would be "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure."

Well spotted !   Perhaps I was thinking of Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice.
I meant of course those two classics from Keanu Reeves dude:
bill & ted's excellent adventure   and the sequel   bill & ted's bogus journey.
I find my scrambled egg of a brain continually prevents me from making intelligent postings !
