Planets, Stars, and Other Celestial Objects (Fictional and Non-Fictional) Part III (C)

  1. Caamas is a toxic planet in the Cirius system that was formerly a highly populated habitable world, until the Empire bombarded it shortly after the Clone Wars, killing nearly all the inhabitants of the planet. The native Caamaasi were a peaceful civilization, much like Alderaan, so, naturally, they were at the top of Palpatine's list of planets to be destroyed. The destruction of Caamas remained a mystery for some time because Caamas had a very powerful planetary shield, and the Empire somehow managed to bring it down. It was later revealed in the Hand of Thrawn duology that it was sabotaged by a group of Bothans working for the Empire. The issue with the Caamas document nearly tore the New Republic apart, which was actually a clever scheme devised by Moff Disra, who went against Admiral Pellaeon's wishes of peace. Star Wars
  2. Cadomai is a frigid world that is home to the Snivvians. Star Wars

  4. Carida is first mentioned in the Star Wars Expanded Universe books as the site of an Imperial training academy. It was a large planet with high gravity and a large variety of climates. The planet was destroyed by Jedi Master Kyp Durron using the Sun Crusher, a superweapon that fires missiles into stars and causes them to go supernova, destroying everything within their solar systems. At the time, Kyp Durron was under the influence (but not control) of the Sith Lord Exar Kun. Carida is also the homeworld of Admiral Kendal Ozzel. Star Wars
  5. Castell is the homeworld of the Gossam. During the Clone Wars, Castell was the headquarters of the Commerce Guild. Star Wars
  6. Cathar is the homeworld of the cat-like species of the same name. Cathar was one of the worlds conquered by the Mandalorians during the Mandalorian Wars. It has terrain alike to that of Earth with fields, forests and oceans. Star Wars
  7. Cato Neimoidia One of the Neimoidian 'purse-worlds', Cato Neimoidia is the location of Nute Gunray's secret redoubt and was seen in Episode III. The planet is famous for its bridges. Towards the end of the Clone Wars, the Republic launched an attack on the fortress, led by Jedi Knights Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker. The battle takes place in Labyrinth of Evil by James Luceno. In Revenge of the Sith, Cato Neimoidia is the planet where Plo Koon leads Republic forces against the separatists. When Order 66 is implemented by Palpatine, clone pilots shoot the Jedi Master down. What is unclear is whether or not George Lucas intended Cato Neimoidia to be the original homeworld of the Neimoidians. The planet Neimoidia is supposedly where they originate from, but that is an Expanded Universe concept. Star Wars

The inhabitants were very democratic and environmentally-friendly. Debates were encouraged on a regular basis in a debate rotunda that was located in nearly every settlement on the planet. The planet was a supporter of the Rebel Alliance during the Galactic Civil War. In the computer game, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, Grand Moff Kohl Seerdon lead an invasion of the planet and intended to blockade the capital city, Hanna, with walls. Luke Skywalker lead a reclamation effort with Rogue Squadron and forced Seerdon to retreat. Star Wars

They resided there for many years, where they willed away time by planning revenge on the newly formed Republic. One of the weapons they created while on Cinnagar was the Cinnagarian Death Star. Unfortunately, the Cinnagarians rose up in revolt against the generals. Later on, spurred by help that arrived in the form of Jedi from Coruscant. However, the battle grew fierce, and the Generals unleashed several of their weapons against the natives, and the Jedi. The end result was that three quarters of the planet was environmentally ruined by the weapons. Eventually, the Jedi overcame the generals. After the battle, the brutally battered, yet still standing planet sought to be left in peace from the galaxy. They left Cinnagar as a broken and dead planet, trying to heal from its wounds. Star Wars

Instead, spectacular meteor showers were seen in 1872 and 1885 when the comet should have been visible. A lesser meteor shower, the Andromedids, occurs annually in November, and is caused by the Earth crossing Biela's orbit.
  27. Comet Encke A Comet that orbits from inside the orbit of Jupiter to inside the orbit of Mercury.
  28. Comet Shoemaker-Levy 2 A Comet whose unstable orbit keeps it between Saturn and Uranus, was originally classified as an asteroid until a faint coma was noticed.

  32. Concord Dawn is an arid, sparsely populated world inhabited mainly by farmers. It was also home to a number of Mandalorians - Concord Dawn was the birthplace of Jango Fett as well as his mentor Jaster Mereel. Star Wars
  33. Corellia is the homeworld of the infamous Corellians, including Han Solo, Wedge Antilles and Garm Bel Iblis. It is the capital planet of the Corellian sector, and of the Corellian system which included Corellia, Selonia, Drall and the double worlds of Talus and Tralus. In the days of the Galactic Republic, it was ruled by a Diktat while the sector had a seat in the Galactic Senate. The Corellian Security Force (CorSec) polices the planet. Corellia was famous for it spacefaring culture, alcohol, smugglers, pirates, and general rogue tradition. Most of the planet itself was green and lush, with great, cosmopolitan cities, such as its capital, Coronet, alongside forests, beaches, swamps, gently rolling grasslands, and spectacular mountains. Great space stations and shipyards, as well as most of the industry, were located in orbit. The planet shows up in the Nintendo 64 video game Star Wars: Rogue Squadron. Star Wars
  34. Corulag is a populated terrestrial world located in the Corulus System. Corulag was a Core World—that is, it lay close to the center of the galaxy and very near to the capital of the New Republic, Coruscant. The population is mostly human with Wookiees, Aqualish, Ithorians and Selkaths representing it as well. In The Unifying Force, the nineteenth and final novel in the New Jedi Order series, Corulag was the site of a battle between elements of the New Republic fleet led by Galactic Alliance generals Antilles and bel Iblis en route to an attack on Coruscant, and invading Yuuzhan Vong forces. Star Wars
  35. Coruscant seen in Episodes I, II, III and VI, was the capital of the Old Republic, the Galactic Empire, the New Republic, and the Yuuzhan Vong occupation at various times. It is generally agreed that Coruscant is the most important world in the Star Wars galaxy, evidenced by the fact that its hyperspace coordinates are (0,0,0). The planet was essentially one giant city, with skyscrapers jutting several kilometers into the atmosphere. Approximately 1 trillion people inhabit the planet. When the Yuuzhan Vong invaded, they destroyed one of its four moons and used massive dovin basals to move the planet into a tighter orbit, allowing lush vegetation to grow on it. It was then called Yuuzhan'tar (Creche of the Gods in the Yuuzhan Vong language) and made the capital of the Yuuzhan Vong occupation until being recaptured by the New Republic. Star Wars

Author Comments:

I still have a lot to add from the Star Wars universe, the Star Trek universe as well as many other fictional universes.

This is a work in progress that will take awhile and it is safe to say that this will never be a complete list.
