Places I ate in NYC this past weekend

Tags:
  • 1. Fondue Lounge: Cheese fondue with different types of breads and vegetables, and then belgian chocolate fondue with strawberries, grapes, bananas and apples for dessert. If you've never had fondue, you have to try it sometime, it is one of my favorite meals.
  • 2. Josie's: Healthy food, mostly vegetarian, kitshy (did I spell that right?) atmosphere. I had chopped spinach salad with tofu, bell peppers (green, red, and yellow), zucchini, and lots of other yummy things, with balsamic vinagrette dressing. Healthy, filling, and good. And let's not forget the homemade watermelon lemonade. Quite refreshing.
  • 3. Magnolia Bakery: Famous for their cupcakes, apparently. I tried a chocolate one with seafoam green icing and white sprinkles on top.
  • 5. Pipa: A tapas restaurant. The inside was a gypsy-theme, and had many different types of chandaliers hanging from the ceiling, and lots of sheer curtains. The tapas I selected included marinated wild mushrooms, shrimp in a spicy butter sauce, crab and shrimp stuffed sweet peppers with a creamy tomato sauce, and a selection of goat cheese, grilled eggplant, onions, and some other things, to put on your bread. My favorite was the shrimp. So yummy.
  • 6. A dessert place right next to my friend's apartment building: It specialized in cheesecakes. I had the caramel crunch cheesecake; my friend had peanut butter pie and let me sample a bite. They were both very good, but I would have to say I like Cheesecake Factory's cheesecake better (even though it is a chain restaurant).
  • 7. Eli's: A variety of bread was first brought to the table, with butter and homemade raspberry jam. It was splendid. My french toast was rather tasteless, unfortunately.

I went to visit my best friend in New York City this weekend. As one of my favorite things to do is eat yummy food, we sampled a variety of places.

This all sounds incredible! The tapas place caught my eye first, of course. Mushrooms, eggplant, goat cheese, it all sounds delicious!

And the desserts sound decadent... ;)

I'm glad that you approve, JohnnyW. :) We should get together and go to a tapas restaurant. The fondue and tapas tie for first place in my favorite meal while I was there. :)
