Tags:
- 1. Rod Serling, creator of legendary Sci-fi TV show The Twilight Zone. Died under strange circumstances.
- 2. Jim Stewart, legendary film actor, actually would like see a film specifically about his years as an U.S. Air Force officer during WW2.
- 3. Raymond Chandler, detective/crime novelist who created anti-heroic, knight-errant P.I. Philip Marlowe.
- 4. Humphrey Bogart, legendary film actor, memorable as hard-boiled heroes and villains characters such-as Rick Blaine, Sam Spade, Fred C. Dobbs, Harry Morgan, Maj. Frank MacLeod, Sgt. Joe Gunn, Capt. Charlie Allnaught, Dutch Kiefer, and Philip Marlowe.
- 5. Gary Webb, journalist who exposed the cocaine trade between the Nicaraguan contras and those who have the best drug stash in America, the Central Intelligence Agency. Died at the age of 49 under mysterious circumstances. See May 2005 edition of High Times magazine, article by Steven Hager.
- 6. Hugh Hefner, the lecherous creator and Emperor of the Playboy magazine/fanchise. Has about five, live-in "girlfriends" at his notorious sex-party palace, aptly named, The Playboy Mansion. If people made a movie about Larry Flint, why not one about Hugh Hefner, hmmm?
- 7. Stephen King (Some day, far from now, when he is in his twilight years) prolific and masterful horror novelist responsible for such works as IT, The Shining, The Stand, The Tommyknockers, The Golden Years, The Gunslinger Series, The Green Miles Series, Needful Things, Thinner, Sleepwalkers, Hearts In Atlantis, and Different Seasons, which contains a novella for each of the natural seasons, such as: Stand By Me, Apt Pupil, and Rita Hayworth At Shawshank.
- 8. H.P. Lovecraft: masterful author of horror stories. Very influential in the genre.
- 9. Alfred Hitchcock: brilliant auteur and filmmaker from Britain, famous for his many great suspense films. Was also something of a TV personality with his suspense/mystery show. Highly influential and responsible for such films as Psycho, North By Northwest, Strangers on A Train, Shadow of a Doubt, Rope, Suspicion, Notorious, Rear Window, Vertigo, Rebecca, Spellbound, The Thirty-Nine Steps, and The Birds.
- 10. Myron Cope, Pittsburgh radio personality and Steelers Football Sportscaster. Is an odd but ever present part of the Steelers legacy. Also creator of the Terrible Towel, a black and gold towel that Myron kept telling fans to bring to games in order to rally behind their team. Myron is still living and talking as loud as ever. Yoye and Double Yoye!!!!!
- 11. Andrew Carnegie: Scottish-born immigrant who came to Pittsburgh, PA around the age of 13, and work himself into becoming one of the most successful steel magnets and philanthropists in American history. I was going to suggest a biopic about Henry Frick, but I would just throw Frick in aswell. Would show his flaws as well as his successes, his worts and all.
- 12. Fiorella La Guardia: charismatic, progressive mayor of New York City during 1930s. Fought prohibition laws and marijuana laws in New York.

Rod Serling and Stephen King are terrific ideas... although i'm not much on biopics, i'd rather read a biography, but either way now i can't wait to hear their "stories"
I want to see a Russ Meyer biopic.
Russ Meyer. good choice Or Roger Corman
Interesting. Any idea who you would cast as Hitchcock?
No idea, I'm sure there is actor in Britain who could pull it off.
Actually there is a biopic about Hitchcock. Rather unknown (and I don't know the title or the actor), but I remember very well reading about it.
I am assuming the list creator is hoping for good bio-pics. I know of a few folks above who have bio-pics, although many of them were made-for-television movies.
Am I correct, allegheny?
Shalom, y'all!
L. Bangs
You are correct, Sir. Actually I am hoping for big screen biopics, and not necessarily all covering a whole lifetime. Like Patton, biopic that simply covered his WW2 years, Lawrence of Arabia was a biopic that simply covered his WW1 Years with hints about his childhood and later life. Gore Vidal's Lincoln, with Sam Waterson and Mary T. Moore, covered his Presidency until his death, but did share intimate stories about his past aswell. Shalom!
You mean this biopic is going to be made or has been made but hidden because made-for-tv or went straight to video?
Let's see, Hitchcock was a heavyset man pretty much all his life, about 5'6" to 5'8". Might get someone life Tim Roth and put some weight on him. Or you could get the guy who played Soap in Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and again put some weight on him.
I'd love to see an H. P. Lovecraft biopic. I have no idea who would play him though.
Johnny Waco
Bogie would be a real tear-jerker for me. Less than humble upbringing. Smashed in the face with handcuffs. Stumbles off the New York stage and finds his way to Hollywood. Gets only parts that others don't want. Works hard, never mails it in. Somehow, somehow manages to be the best thing in every movie he's in, becomes a leading man (with his face and a lisp, no less) and then matures into a great older actor. Legendary drinker with co-enabler John Huston. Formed the original "Rat Pack." Finds true love with a woman literally half his age and all his equal. Stands up to McCarthy. Gets ahold of his drinking. Settles down. Has kids... and is immediately pulled under by cancer.
Bogie stood up to McCarthy? Wow, never thought of Bogie as doing that. I am impressed.
