I *heart* language.

Being a utilitarian at heart I tend to only like words that I would use and not have to explain to people, but nonetheless malaprop does tickle my tongue, specifically as a snobby exclamation that no one else would understand..."so I preceded on to the next level"... "MALAPROP!"... "what?"... "nothing".
It's strange... I don't need a word to be useful on a daily basis in order to love it....
isn't that sort of the point of language? not a daily basis, but at some point, otherwise you might as well just create your own words and love them.
That sounds cromulent to me.
:) Heh.
Eh, it's not the same if I make them up.... The discovery is fun, and I appreciate when a word elegantly expresses something - the fact that there IS a word for whatever, that someone already thought it up... and of course words that feel good to say are just cool.
all i was saying was that, for me, application is a requirement... words that no one would understand are no fun for me, no matter how interesting.
Isn't it about time that we had a new word for "neologism"?
