All these songs are pre "Dark Side....". I recommend headphones at a high volumne late at night!
The comment on this list by BAKE was a lame attempt by a friend to bust my chops.

I never really liked "Interstellar Overdrive" that much. In fact, everything PF did before "Atom Heart Mother" doesn't seem to do anything for me. There are a few good songs from that era that I like ("Lucifer Sam" is one of them), but although I've tried many times, I still can't get into those albums.
Now, if you ask me, "Atom Heart Mother" is the turning point for Floyd. Does anyone else notice the incredible twist in their style on this album? I mean, it is *totally* different than "Ummagumma". They really don't have single common thing. "Atom Heart Mother" is definitely one of my favorite albums, just because it's so wonderfully refreshing compared to the earlier PF stuff.
The opening "Atom Heart Mother Suite" is, IMHO, the best song on that album. And IMHO once again, it's even better than "Echoes". There. I've said it. :) Their little experiment with classical music is more than just amazing.
Well, I've written enough about Vol.1... On to Volume 2 now... :)
After I read your list I stumbled upon Meddle in my favorite record shops used bin. I had never heard the studio version of echoes before but being a fan of the POST DARKSIDE FLOYD I figured for $6.00 dollars why not. It was late at night I put the headphones on turned up the volume and promptly fell asleep. A waste of my time & money or so I thought.
The next day I couldn't get the damn thing out of my head. And now I,m hooked on the whole disc!
I never knew what the big deal was about Pink Floyd. Then again, I never dropped acid. Somehow I think there's a link...convince me otherwise.
Now,this is really good. I am glad that someone likes early days of Pink Floyd. What do you think about Atom heart mother,Saucerful of secrets,One of these days?Echoes is really the best song of all time!
I love Childhoods end, I would throw some Pigs (three different ones) on there though
