i have that SAME habit! but i decided that while it does take a while to accomplish anything--one's reading accomplishments come in packs, rather than individually...which, synergistically, should be more rewarding. (well, aren't i verbose today.)

hey, i've just started reading brief history of time!

I have the same habit--I have read more than one book at a time since I was a little kid. I know that a book is really really great if I don't/can't read anything else while I'm reading it.
I thought that "Feel This Book" was hilarious!

on reading multiple books at a time:

I always have bookmarks in many, though almost always only 1 novel. the rest are all nonfiction, short stories, or poetry; things I can read comfortably a little bit in a sitting. Novels I tend to read straight through across several nights reading (with some taking longer than others) and I don't start a new one until I've either finished (or, infrequently, given up on the previous).
