To get credit, just type the next line of the song. No cheating please. Thanks to stooky for this idea which I stole.

Scoreboard:
stooky - 9
lbangs - 7
AAA - 3
geek - 1
xfanatic50 - 1

Oh, and by the way, my previous lyrics game (which is just a straight-up "name that song" format) is still available here. Some of the remaining ones are kinda tough, but some should've been guessed long ago, if ya ask me.

3. "let all the children boogie"
5. "take a drag or two"
8. "I just made you say 'under-wear'"
19. "but I can't help how I act when you're not here with me"

Correct for 3, 8, and 19; nice job! For 5, I wasn't making fun of "Run Run Run" when I typed 12 "run"s; I am looking for a song that uses that lyric literally. Good guess though.

I just didn't even count how many "run"'s there were. Sigh.

Here's a few...

40 - They're beating plowshares into swords / For this tired old man that we elected king
36 - For maybe by being an A student, baby / I could win your love for me
33 - Maybe get a blister on your little finger / Maybe get a blister on your thumb
32 - Where the blind ones see and the dry bones dance (yeah, I figure that one was in there for me)
26 - She tore it up and threw it in my face / Just for a laugh
23 - And for heaven's sake / Don't you be so sad
22 - Who knows, maybe you were kidnapped, tied up, taken away and held for ransom (I know both options, but surely this is the one you *really* want!)

Well, I know a few more, and a several are still teasing me from the edge of my memory, but that'll do for now...

Great game.

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

Well done, correct on all! Yeah, 32 was for you, but there was another in there that was mainly for you as well. Maybe you hoped someone else would get it.

Yeah, I think I know which one you're talking about, and I am going to hold off a day or two on that one. It isn't quite so obscure...

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

Yeah, now that you mention it, I can think of two other people who could possibly get it.

28 is Two Princes by Spin Doctors. The line is: Marry him, your father will condone you (how bout that, now)/Marry me, your father will disown you (he'll eat his hat, now)

Good call!

12. "knowing that you lied straight-faced while I cried"

Correct! Nice job!

Aha

30. Pixies: Wave Of Mutilation "could find my way to mariana on a wave of mutilation"
15. Van Morrison: Call Me Up In Dreamland "Never to grow old on the saxophone"

plus

34. Sting: Desert Rose "And in the flames Her shadows play in the shape of a man's desire"
1. Rufus Wainwright: Instant Pleasure "just give me sex whenever I want it 'cause all I ask for is instant pleasure instant pleasure, instant pleasure"

13. "Just what I'm going through, they can't understand" The Knights Who Say Nee In White Satin: Moody Blues

...I've got to find out why / Those gentle voices I hear / Explain it all with a sigh

"Ahh! They said the word!"

Nice job, by the way.

39. "But will you love me tomorrow?" Said title, Carole King.
7. "That he who fucks nuns will later join the church" AJ made me type it Death Or Glory/ Clashus Clay

Sho nuff!

7. "That he who fucks nuns will later join the church" AJ made me type it Death Or Glory/ Clashus Clay (twice baby)
10. "I wanted to hold the bumper and let her drag me down the street" Crush On You Da Boss

"And if the right one don't get ya, the left one will" 16 Tons Merle Travis

that's all for now, yet a few linger on the tip of my brain. Ready to topple and be posted.

Thanks for the steal. Good game. It make me feel all proud. "Do the next line has gone out on his own and he's gonna make something of himself...ma!" Tee hee

Tallyho

Tallyho

I was thinking of putting up a new lyric game for the summer, but I was hoping to take care of some of this unfinished business first. If you have trouble remembering the next lines of songs, there are song identifications in this game here. C'mon, this isn't obscure local bands I'm putting up here. This game has songs from the Buzzcocks, Johnny Cash, Tracy Chapman, Eagles, Flaming Lips, Joe Jackson, John Cougar Mellencamp, Rolling Stones, Elliott Smith, the Who, XTC, Patti Smith's Horses, Blondie's Parallel Lines, and Jefferson Airplane's Surrealistic Pillow, among others. And #29 is the easiest entry in the history of lyric games.

On the song-ID game I linked to, we have some Jimi Hendrix, Sex Pistols, Sonic Youth, Derek and the Dominoes' Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs, the Stone Roses' self-titled album, the Verve's Urban Hymns, and a hit single by Madonna, among others.

I know you all can get these, so go for it!
