Ahh, I love the hooverphonic cd. I've never heard neutral milk hotel. Are they similar?
i wouldn't say they were similar, but i've only heard a little bit of neutral milk hotel so i'm not positive. at allmusic.com they are described as "fuzz-folk" and "lo-fi indie." so do with that what you will... ;)
i burned neutral milk's cd, and it is a good folk album, but has some use of....well,...bad language in some parts... not nes. cuss words, but.... ummm... sexual references. Not what i really expected from a "folk-like" album. The music is pretty good though. Just not an album you wanna listen to with the "family"
maybe I'm not talking to anyone in particular here, but I gotta speak up for Mr. Mangum. if you take a look at the lyrics, the "sexual references" are pretty removed from base sensuality or pleasure. they read more like a celebration of human anatomy, the wonder of how our bodies are knit and joined together.
Taryn, when you nab the Jeff Buckley disc, would you mind posting your thoughts here? I'm interested in it, but would love to hear some opinions before handing over my precious cash. Specifically, what does the disc sound like, and how (in quality) would you compare it to Grace and Drunk?
