Tags:
- House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros (pointless)
- Stargirl by Jerry Spenelli (garbage)
- Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane (it was so-so)
- The Harry Potter Saga (while I like the first couple of books the next ones dissapointed me).

I haven't read it in years, but I certainly support your nomination of Red Badge to this list. I REALLY did not like that book.
I personally would throw on Toni Morrison's Beloved (yeah, so now a *lot* of people hate me), though I *really* enjoyed Song of Solomon and Jazz...

Beloved! Ohmigod Yes! I had to read this book for a Women's Studies course and I was just so underwhelmed. Everyone else, however, was in an appropriate PC ecstasy over the book.
Well, who knows... Maybe they really did like it. But I rather doubt it. Oprah likes it, that's for sure. And Oprah has pretty good taste in books, really. She turned me on to Stones in the River and Wally Lamb, after all...
I would list 'One Hundred Years of Solitude' by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
But you'd be wrong. ;)
Nah, to each his or her own. 100 Years, though, would certainly be on my short list for best novel of the 20th century, and trust me, it would be a very short list. We had plenty of good novels last century, but I'm not sure how many of them I'd call truly great.
Shalom, y'all!

Just came across this list. Funny thing is I started red badge of courage earlier today(after having wanted to read that book for oh 10 years), so I can't really form any sort of opinion. I do love Crane's short stories.
The Open Boat (I think that's the title) is great.
For the most part, I enjoy Crane's stories more than his novels.
Shalom, y'all!
