- Pulp Fiction~ This one of my three all-time favorites. I love this flick, and I love Quentin Tarantino. He always keeps me hooked and interested, and this is his masterpiece in my eyes. It has just the right amount of shock value, plot, violence, language, and the acting is phenominal. How could it not with a cast like John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis and Uma Thurman heading it up? Amazing movie.
- Donnie Darko~ Another of the top three. Again, when I think back to when I was watching it I just felt really good and it had me absorbed and into everything happening. I felt everything it wanted me too. The plot is very interesting and the acting great. Portrays very acurately what every teenager in America feels growing up.
- Fight Club~ Edward Norton could kick your ass, Hulk Hogan's ass, Jessica Lynch's ass, George Bush's ass, and anyone's ass for that matter. Third in the triumverate of Jake's favorite movies. It taps into that inner guy testerone part of the brain also hooking you into the plot and make you think. Awesome performance by everyone in it and I love the style and plot and everything about this film. Again with the just right amount of violence for shock value to get the point across.
- Shawshank Redemtion~ This was my favorite film for a long time until I saw the top three ones you just read. Beautiful film. I love the wonderful jobs done by Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins and everyone. I read the book and the movie was actually better. Not a bad book, just the movie was that well-done.
- Saving Silverman~ Funniest movie hands down. One wouldn't think it is, especially since I am not usually a fan of those "now that's it on home video, we can release an 'R' rated version you couldn't see in theaters" comedies, but its so funny. I can still watch it for the hundreth time and guffaw at it. The acting by Jack Black and Steve Zahn is histarical, almost as if they don't give a F*** about this movie and are just bull****ing the whole thing. Jason Bigg or Briggs or whoever is good too, and I don't like him much.

Please recommend me some more films you think I'm enjoy and I'll tell you if I've seen them or not and what I though of them. If there is anything like Pulp Fiction/Donnie Darko/Fight Club out there I would love to know.

Pulp Fiction - obvious choices are other Tarantino movies like Resevoir Dogs and True Romance. Also, The Usual Suspects and Go. Also, other Gangster movies like the Godfather movies and Goodfellas.
Fight Club - other dark, gritty masterpieces include: Trainspotting, A Clockwork Orange, Taxi Driver, Seven, Midnight Cowboy, etc.
The others I don't feel like commenting on right now :-)
Oh yes, and if you like Fight Club you must try American History X, also starring Edward Norton.
I liked Resevoir Dogs, but it was just too much swearing and gore for me. I understand its importance and stuff, but its just too much for me. they eliminated all meaning of the words and it got annoying, and the gore was hard to watch.
I have heard that American History X and A Clockwork Orange are good, but haven't gotten around to seeing them. I watched a good part of Seven but it started too slow and I was at All-State at the time in a hotel room so I fell asleep. And then I caught the end on tv so I ruined it for myself. I will check out some of the others for sure though thank you very much. Taxi Driver, Scarface, and the Godfather movies have been on my to-see list a long time.
i love saving silverman -great choice-jack black is great!!
And Donnie Darko is a masterpiece
Can't wait to see the director's cut in theaters!
Donnie Darko is probably my favorite movie, it was just so different from anything else I have ever seen.
I loved Saving Silverman too. Even though I've seen it about 10 times, I still watch it everytime its on TV. Jack Black is amazing.
not bad contemporary choices but maybe you need to see some older films... and i don't mean the namely classics, i just mean there are plenty of great movies out there... i mean no offense but if you have to put fight club in the top 3... you have to see more movies or i'm giving you too much credit and your taste is just something i despise... i'm not saying i'm any better than you... just a little criticism... i'm sure anyone could bash any of my choices easily.
Oh sure, I love One Flew Over the Cuckoo's NEst and Godfathers I and II and Chinatown and Pyscho, but they didn't speak top me and stick out in my head like those did. Actually, One flew over the Cuckoo's nest did, I don't know, I guess I might update this list a little bit.
Amazing list mate, like i've said in the past, we have the same taste in movies lol.
Have you seen David Fincher's "The Game"? its quite good
no, but I'll be sure to check it out now!
