Very hard for me to come up with this list, as i very rarely see a female performance that really stands out, and the only females whose names I can really remember are mainstream, terrible actresses.
all in alphabetical order.

Nobody disagrees here? Weird. Then I'll do...
KATE HEPBURN????????? Why?
she's incredibly annoying for one thing... for another she can't worth a lick... if you don't believe me just watch the lion in winter... if you still disagree after that than i feel sorry for you.
Ok, I haven't yet seen The Lion in Winter (the film with Peter O'Toole, right?), but I just loved her in Bringing Up Baby, for example. I enjoy her strong way of acting very much. She is a legend, and I prefer her to Audrey Hepburn all the way. But if you don't like her, well, that's cool. I mean it would be boring if everybody had the same tastes, and an exchange of opinions (in great forum places like listology) would become superfluous.
i haven't seen bringing up baby... to be honest the only thing i've seen her in is the lion in winter with peter o'toole(who is amazing in it) and all i could do is scowl at how annoying every word out her mouth was... it's the same kind of thing with uma thurman, it may not be acting talent, maybe some woman's voices just annoy the hell out of me... who knows, but that eventually leads me to believe that their acting is subpar.
That's how I felt after seeing Greer Garson in Sunrise at Campobello (1960) her voice, and every word she said was so annoying in that movie. Or maybe it was just me.
The Lion in Winter isn't Katharine Hepburn's best, I didn't really like that movie very much but she's really good in everything else I've seen her in. You really should see Bringing Up Baby (1938) it's great.
