Author Comments:

No order to the directors, just the films by that certain director.

Ratings are out of 100 and only apply to those i have seen recently enough to rate.

I never liked Full Metal Jacket too much, but I have a large biase twords War movies. Besides, my Dad made me see that movie when I was in 7th grade.....WAY, way, way too early to see Full Metal Jacket.

I like The Shining alot, I'm surprised that it didn't make your list for Kubrick. My ex girl just let me borrow Clockwork Orange so I can see it, Hopefully I'll like it!

forgot about the shining... i don't like full metal jacke too much either... but it's good enough for me to call it the worst kubrick film i've seen... but hey, it's still kubrick, the guy is amazing and to tell you the honest truth i feel the same way about a clockwork orange... they both compete for the worst and most overrated kubrick film i've seen. good but nothing special

btw... i'm still working on the rest of the directors films, puting them into the list that is... but all the directors for now are inputted

and i hate to toot my own horn... but DAMN! that list looks good.

Do you realize that a '79' for Convoy is equivalent to a **** rating? (4*s out of 5). Self-congratulations to everybody.

i don't really like to translate my ratings into stars... if i'm doing stars then i would probably rate them differently... because there are only 5 of them... convoy would not be a 4*... to me there is a big difference in ratings when talking in 5 units and 100 units... and if you're asking did i like convoy enough to give it 4 out of 5... yes... but if i were doing stars i would probably scale it down to a 3* to even everything out... if i were doing stars they would probably be 90-100*****...80-90****... and so on.

oh yeah, and it did look a lot better when i self-congratulated myself... it's gotten so big now i would have to recall that congratulatory post.

With what in Citizen Kane do you take issue? Try as I might (and I have), I can't find any reason not to respect it as one of the best films ever made.

Same question for The Godfather, to a lesser extent.

I'll take this opportunity to repeat that you must see Rear Window. Like, tonight. Go to the damn video store and pick it up :-)

i guess i don't see where i ever took issue with Citizen Kane being considered one of the best films ever made... i not only respect that... i agree with it... same thing with coppola though... i think apocolypse now is on e of the greatest films ever made... but pleanty of guys have had one great film... i just don't think that puts them up there with top tier directors... you happened to guess right that i don't think as highly of the godfather as most people... it's pretty good... but it's nowhere near the top... can't compete with a real gangster classic... OUATIA.

i guess you just misunderstood my categories... they pertain to the director not his movies or his best movie... just my feeling on the directors work as a whole.

oh yeah... and i'm broke! no rear window tonight

added another category... realized i shouldn't have such greats in the same category as some average guys i like.

A couple guys made the jump to the greats... and luke i'm sorry for underestimating the greatness of orson welles

Bogdanovich had a string of solid-to-great films in the late sixties and early seventies; have you seen Targets, Paper Moon, or What's Up, Doc??

And I love Peckinpah, too. I'd be interested in how you would rate The Wild Bunch and Cable Hogue.

Johnny Waco

i've only seen one bogdanovich and that has made the list... as for peckinpah i like cable hogue more than the wild bunch but i really need to see wild bunch again... it's been a while and i never got a good watch out of it... but cable hogue was pretty damn great.

wait i seem to remember you telling me off for liking Kill Bill volume 1 more than 2, yet you've rated it higher also...what gives??!

i came to my senses... and i apoligize for telling you off... i realized how randomly and terribly directed vol. 2 was... although i still like the content better it's just such a shitty collection of random shots i can't bare watching a third of vol. 2... everyone was right all along, same thing happened with raiders of the lost ark... i'm just wrong alot.

ah fair enough. No Need to apoligize, i'm just glad you now see what a great film Kill Bill Volume one is.

comparably it's a masterpiece... not that kill bill is all that bad as a whole... but my god what was tarantino thinking... half of the movie seems to have been shot by robert rodriguez.

Have you seen Eastwood's Bronco Billy yet?

nope
