Author Comments:

In alphabetical order by last name.

More will be added later.

I got the inspiration to add movies for each from RosieCotton's Favorite Film Actresses

I would have to include:

Joan Fontaine: Rebecca, Suspicion
Emma Thompson: Wit, The Remains Of The Day, Howards End, Sense & Sensibility.

Thanks, I added Joan Fontaine but the only one of those movies that you have listed for Emma Thompson that I think I've seen is Sense & Sensibility and I'm not really sure about that.

Sense & Sensibility could be decribed as a bit of a chick-flick so if that's the only one you've seen then that's understandable. &nbsp Her performance in &nbsp Wit &nbsp is extraordinary, based on a Pulitzer-prize winning play, she plays a woman dying of cancer. &nbsp Remains Of The Day (a favourite of mine, with Anthony Hopkins) and Howard's End (both classic costume dramas) are both highly recommended.

Other movies she appears in include Love Actually, Angels In America (as the Angel), Dead Again (with one-time husband Kenneth Branagh), Henry V (again with Branagh), In The Name Of the Father, Primary Colors, plus a few others with Brannagh.

She is easily one of the best actresses around today, right up there in reputation with Judy Dench and Meryl Streep.

I need to see more of her movies then.

I agree. Thanks for the reminder. I will add Emma to my list.

I watched 'Love Actually' again last night, and whilst the whole cast is pretty good, Emma Thompson stood out (playing the prime minister's/Hugh Grant's sister).

Christina Ricci would be near the top of my list--one of those actresses who completely inhabits her different roles but maintains a certain recognizable similarity, too.

Yeah, Christina Ricci is great. This list is in alphabetical order by their last names so it's easier for me to edit and not have the same person listed more than once, otherwise, she'd be higher up on the list.

You have a lot of good actresses listed, however, I don't get the fuss over Clea Duvall. Frankly, she always looks to me like she needs to wash her hair and brush her teeth. %-p
