  1. Rerated, more harshly, 12-Apr-06
  2. ABBA: The Singles [92]
  3. The best work of the best pop band of the '70s. A few weak tracks and a few exclusions disappoint.
  4. ABBA: More Abba Gold [75]
  5. A mostly average compilation of B-sides and later/less successful singles. Completists only.
  6. Andy Abraham: The Impossible Dream [82]
  7. Not to your average music aficionado's taste, but a soulful set of covers and originals with stunning vocals.
  8. The Beach Boys: Pet Sounds [99]
  9. Brian Wilson is a genius.
  10. The Beach Boys: Summer Dreams - Greatest [99]
  11. Brian Wilson is still a genius.
  12. The Beatles: Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band [90]
  13. The most overrated Beatles record, still delivers.
  14. The Beatles: Abbey Road [98]
  15. The best Beatles album, particularly vocally.
  16. The Beatles: 1 [100]
  17. As good as a Beatles compilation could - nay, should - be.
  18. The Bee Gees: The Record - Greatest [95]
  19. Another example of an excellent compilation. Consistently strong.
  20. Billy Joel: An Innocent Man [92]
  21. Joel puts out great material consistently. This is proof.
  22. Billy Joel: Piano Man [97]
  23. His best. An exemplar album.
  24. Billy Joel: The Stranger [92]
  25. It's all good.
  26. Billy Joel: Greatest Hits [97]
  27. Another example of a "best of the best" compilation.
  28. Blur: Best Of [88]
  29. I prefer Oasis to Blur, but there's no denying these guys were also pretty good. Love Coffee & TV.
  30. Bob Dylan: Freewheelin' [91]
  31. Excellent, as ever.
  32. Bob Dylan: Blonde on Blonde [98]
  33. His best.
  34. Bob Dylan: Highway 61 Revisited [95]
  35. Another personal Dylan favourite.
  36. Bob Dylan: Greatest Hits [99]
  37. The standard by which Greatest Hits albums should be measured.
  38. Bon Jovi: Slippery When Wet [86]
  39. Cheesy as this is, it's catchy as hell.
  40. Boyzone: By Request [77]
  41. I like this mostly for sentimental reasons - it's a fair compilation of cover versions and the odd original (A Different Beat is good).
  42. Brian Wilson: Smile [96]
  43. Brian Wilson is a God.
  44. Bruce Springsteen: Born to Run [100]
  45. The best album ever. The definitive rock album. Each word, each instrument is delievered to pure perfection. Popular music's peak.
  46. Bruce Springsteen: Darkness on the Edge of Town [98]
  47. Whatever came next had to be a step down from BtR; thankfully this wasn't much of one.
  48. Bruce Springsteen: The River [98]
  49. I often find double-discers pretentious and overlong.. not this one.
  50. Bruce Springsteen: Nebraska [TBC]
  51. In the post.
  52. Bruce Springsteen: Born in the USA [90]
  53. Popular Bruce, inevitably meaning slightly weaker music, but still a classic.
  54. Bruce Springsteen: Devils & Dust [95]
  55. The best album of 2005.
  56. Bryan Adams: Room Service [89]
  57. Bryan-by-numbers, but that's OK. Perfectly crafted driving anthems, with a couple of unfortunate duds.
  58. Bryan Adams: Anthology [94]
  59. For the most part, very good, with a lot of classic rock staples. Loses points for some of the weaker 1995-2005 tracks.
  60. The Corrs: Best Of [85]
  61. Daniel Powter: Daniel Powter [90]

Author Comments:

Rating /100 in [square brackets] -- obviously I usually only buy albums I have enjoyed by hearing elsewhere, or am sure I will enjoy, so almost every album here has a score of 85+.

This list doesn't represent my music taste all that well - not as much as my favourite songslist, at least - as I have a tendency to enjoy songs rather than purchase or listen to entire albums.

Recommendations welcomed. Comments also welcomed, but try to be too harsh!

Note this is still in progress; there are another 30 or so albums for me to list here yet. My collection is relatively small regardless of course, but I should point out that this only really half of it.

Nice collection wezzo ol' pal. interesting seeing Radiohead on here - didn't think you like them but glad to hear you do! (they rock!) i noticed you don't have their 2nd alubm "The Bends" have you heard it? in my view its their best. its more grunge / rocky than KID A or OK COMPUTER. some songs you may know from the album would be "just" "fake Plastic Trees" or High & Dry" have you heard it or any of them?

Also on another note, have you ever pre-ordered anything from play / usa? i'm thinking of pre-ording scrubs and wanted to know what or if there was any problems with the service

Thanks for the comment, as ever :)

Yep, I do like Radiohead - they're currently 10th overall artist at my Audioscrobbler page. I don't have The Bends but I will probably now pick it up - of the tracks you listed I've heard Just and Fake Plastic Trees and I liked both a lot.

PlayUSA are great with pre-orders. They dispatch as soon as they get them in, which is usually between 6 days and 1 week 6 days before the release date. Delivery as you probably know is about 3 working days after it's posted, but there's always custosm which will probably slow Scrubs down a bit. But regardless, it will probably arrive around the official street date anyway, though as you know, I'd expect an £8 bill with it. :)
