- Rerated, more harshly, 12-Apr-06
- ABBA: The Singles [92]
- The best work of the best pop band of the '70s. A few weak tracks and a few exclusions disappoint.
- ABBA: More Abba Gold [75]
- A mostly average compilation of B-sides and later/less successful singles. Completists only.
- Andy Abraham: The Impossible Dream [82]
- Not to your average music aficionado's taste, but a soulful set of covers and originals with stunning vocals.
- The Beach Boys: Pet Sounds [99]
- Brian Wilson is a genius.
- The Beach Boys: Summer Dreams - Greatest [99]
- Brian Wilson is still a genius.
- The Beatles: Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band [90]
- The most overrated Beatles record, still delivers.
- The Beatles: Abbey Road [98]
- The best Beatles album, particularly vocally.
- The Beatles: 1 [100]
- As good as a Beatles compilation could - nay, should - be.
- The Bee Gees: The Record - Greatest [95]
- Another example of an excellent compilation. Consistently strong.
- Billy Joel: An Innocent Man [92]
- Joel puts out great material consistently. This is proof.
- Billy Joel: Piano Man [97]
- His best. An exemplar album.
- Billy Joel: The Stranger [92]
- It's all good.
- Billy Joel: Greatest Hits [97]
- Another example of a "best of the best" compilation.
- Blur: Best Of [88]
- I prefer Oasis to Blur, but there's no denying these guys were also pretty good. Love Coffee & TV.
- Bob Dylan: Freewheelin' [91]
- Excellent, as ever.
- Bob Dylan: Blonde on Blonde [98]
- His best.
- Bob Dylan: Highway 61 Revisited [95]
- Another personal Dylan favourite.
- Bob Dylan: Greatest Hits [99]
- The standard by which Greatest Hits albums should be measured.
- Bon Jovi: Slippery When Wet [86]
- Cheesy as this is, it's catchy as hell.
- Boyzone: By Request [77]
- I like this mostly for sentimental reasons - it's a fair compilation of cover versions and the odd original (A Different Beat is good).
- Brian Wilson: Smile [96]
- Brian Wilson is a God.
- Bruce Springsteen: Born to Run [100]
- The best album ever. The definitive rock album. Each word, each instrument is delievered to pure perfection. Popular music's peak.
- Bruce Springsteen: Darkness on the Edge of Town [98]
- Whatever came next had to be a step down from BtR; thankfully this wasn't much of one.
- Bruce Springsteen: The River [98]
- I often find double-discers pretentious and overlong.. not this one.
- Bruce Springsteen: Nebraska [TBC]
- In the post.
- Bruce Springsteen: Born in the USA [90]
- Popular Bruce, inevitably meaning slightly weaker music, but still a classic.
- Bruce Springsteen: Devils & Dust [95]
- The best album of 2005.
- Bryan Adams: Room Service [89]
- Bryan-by-numbers, but that's OK. Perfectly crafted driving anthems, with a couple of unfortunate duds.
- Bryan Adams: Anthology [94]
- For the most part, very good, with a lot of classic rock staples. Loses points for some of the weaker 1995-2005 tracks.
- The Corrs: Best Of [85]
- Daniel Powter: Daniel Powter [90]

Author Comments:
Rating /100 in [square brackets] -- obviously I usually only buy albums I have enjoyed by hearing elsewhere, or am sure I will enjoy, so almost every album here has a score of 85+.
This list doesn't represent my music taste all that well - not as much as my favourite songslist, at least - as I have a tendency to enjoy songs rather than purchase or listen to entire albums.
Recommendations welcomed. Comments also welcomed, but try to be too harsh!
Note this is still in progress; there are another 30 or so albums for me to list here yet. My collection is relatively small regardless of course, but I should point out that this only really half of it.

Nice collection wezzo ol' pal. interesting seeing Radiohead on here - didn't think you like them but glad to hear you do! (they rock!) i noticed you don't have their 2nd alubm "The Bends" have you heard it? in my view its their best. its more grunge / rocky than KID A or OK COMPUTER. some songs you may know from the album would be "just" "fake Plastic Trees" or High & Dry" have you heard it or any of them?
Also on another note, have you ever pre-ordered anything from play / usa? i'm thinking of pre-ording scrubs and wanted to know what or if there was any problems with the service
Thanks for the comment, as ever :)
Yep, I do like Radiohead - they're currently 10th overall artist at my Audioscrobbler page. I don't have The Bends but I will probably now pick it up - of the tracks you listed I've heard Just and Fake Plastic Trees and I liked both a lot.
PlayUSA are great with pre-orders. They dispatch as soon as they get them in, which is usually between 6 days and 1 week 6 days before the release date. Delivery as you probably know is about 3 working days after it's posted, but there's always custosm which will probably slow Scrubs down a bit. But regardless, it will probably arrive around the official street date anyway, though as you know, I'd expect an £8 bill with it. :)
