Author Comments:

THe title is a little askewed. What I mean is, when I am walking, in a mall, or listening to songs on the radio, I hear these songs, and it instantly transport me to recollections of these movies. * means totally not in the soundtrack or score, just reminds me of the movie. I know,

Excellent idea and list!

A suggestion?

Billy Joel's We Didn't Start the Fire 'recognizes' five movies: The Bridge on the River Kwai, The King and I, Lawrence of Arabia, Psycho and Ben-Hur!

Hey, how are you? Um when I hear that Billy Joel song, I actually think of the 80's, and think of it as a viewpoint to look back the turmoil in the world from WW2 to that time. I think basically of the 80s, The Reagan Years, and The Challenger Disaster.

American Girl by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers is played on the car radio of the senator's daughter right before Buffalo Bill attacks her in The Silence of The Lambs, this must qualify for your list...

Didn't pick up on that one from Silence of the Lambs, I guess I wasn't paying attention enough. Eerie but good song for the scene you noted.

This is a personal one but whenever i hear Sweet Home Alabama (Skynyrd)-- i think of Joe Dirt its played in the open titles

Sweet Home ALabama sticks out in my mind because of the Steve Buscemi's line in Con Air= The irony about a bunch of drunks on a plane dancing to a song by a group that died in a plane crash. Plus, Skynyrd talks about Watergate in that song, and how it didn't bother them. I find this hard to digest from a song that has an excellent sound. The lyrics are weird, but the music draws you in. But hey, Skynyrd was still a great band.
