Author Comments:

this list was inspired by taryn's "aristotelian ecstasy" list... any suggestins are welcome!

Dammit, Thomas, I can´t believe it: Where, in god´s name, is STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN, and if you want to cry, sorry for being such a nerd, listen to the second movement of Beethoven´s piano concert "Emperor". You will find that, once you have listened a bit to it, there is no music but classical, Beethoven or Brahms in first place...
Honestly, try to find thius concert, this goes out to everybody reading this one.

Oh, and before I forget, the best song for causing an orgasm naturally is My heart goes Boom by the Venga Boys!;)

Alard

please tell me you were getting lucky while listening to venga boys... cos that's the only excuse for having an orgasm i'll except..:))

Honestly, I never realy liked Stairway To Heaven that much...

Our anonymous friend means "concerto" not "concert", but, yes, go classical for your orgasmic musical needs. Try Maurice Ravel's BOLERO - it may or may not do the trick, but you'll know what sex sounds like set to music.

I wouldn't say that Ravel's Bolero would actually send anyone INTO (sorry, I can't figure out how to use italics in here) fits of ecstasy, but it definitely could be seen as the sexual experience put to music. I never thought of it that way before (thanks for enlightening me), but the song spends most of the time slowly building to a powerful crescendo.

THANK YOU!!! I have no idea why I didn't think of Bolero...

Oh, and I would also personally add Crash by Dave Matthews Band to that list.

I'm putting both Bolero And Crash on the list right away. Any further suggestions are welcome.

This isn't really a suggestion for your list, just a passing comment. Another piece of music that suggests sex to me every time I hear it is an instrumental piece called TRY A LITTLE TENDERNESS. I hear it whenever I watch the movie Dr Strangelove: it's the song being played right at the beginning of the movie when the two planes, bomber and fuel tanker, are copulating. Hmm...maybe I should mention this to my therapist.

OKAY PEOPLE, IT SEEMS TO ME I'M GIVING YOU THE WRONG IDEA OF WHAT THIS LIST IS ABOUT. SPIRITUAL ORGASM FOR ME MEANS THE FEELING OF ENORMOUS SPIRITUAL SATISFACTION, A VERY PURE FEELING OF JOY...IT HAS A BIT LESS TO DO WITH HAVING SEX... (THOUGH I SEE THE CONNECTION).

MY SEXUAL ORGASM LIST WOULD PROBABLY INCLUDE A LOT OF MIKE OLDFIELD AND MASSIVE ATTACK STUFF...

...in that case John Coltrane's A Love Supreme would have to be my suggestion.

How right you are, my man. Coltrane and Miles should never ever be forgotten, my reckon is they´re two of the last couple of geniuses we had after the fifties. Now this is a daring one: Richard Ashcroft of The Verve is one, too. (I dunno whether you´ve listened to the Verve extensively, Thomas. His solo-album is crap, though.)
Alard

just wanted to say i'm flattered that i inspired this list--although i'm sorry the title seems to be a stumbling block to readers everywhere. :)

*i* know what you mean...

Thomas, I repeat:
EMBRACE, COLDPLAY, TRAVIS, BEETHOVEN AND BRAHMS AND FUCKING SCHUBERT!!!
