Movies Watched In 2008 (Without Al Pacino In Them)...

  • I Am Legend (Was going along quite okay, thought Will Smith was carrying it pretty well, good effects etc...Then it ended! That has to be one of the crappiest endings of any film I have ever seen! It was like they ran out of money and thought "we better end it here...".Disappointing.)
  • Conspiracy Theory( Mel Gibson & Julia Roberts. Pile of poop. Gibson is slightly irritating and looks a little bit too pleased with himself imho... Seemed to be pretty much the same slightly 'mad' character from Lethal Weapon. 'Nuff said.)
  • How To Steal A Million (Audrey Hepburn & Peter O'Toole. An ok Saturday afternoon kind of film. Funny at times in a corny way...)
  • The Departed (I had this recommended to me by several people. Don't know if I wasn't in the right mood for this or what but it didn't really blow me away. Jack Nicholson was his usual slightly psychotic, creepy character, Matt Damon was ok. I did think that Leonardo Decaprio played a good part (which was a surprise as I cannot say I am usually a big fan...). Film was pretty much of a muchness to me).
  • Reindeer Games (Lame....(IMHO of course.)
  • The Iceman Cometh ( Really enjoyed this film based on a Eugene O' Neil play. Lee Marvin is stunning in his role as Hickey the salesman. Also a good performance from a very young Jeff Bridges. Clever writing & good direction).
  • The Conversation (I nearly turned this off after about 20 minutes - am I glad I didn't...It seemed like nothing really interesting was happening then all of a sudden I was totally hooked and wanted to know what was going to happen. It turned out to be one of the most engrossing films I have ever seen and it has a brilliant 'ahaa' moment (well it did for me anyway)! Gene Hackman is just superb. Good to see John Cazale and a young Harrison Ford also.A good story mainly due to a good twist. Great direction from Francis Ford Copolla.
