Nice to see you're back, and you're lucky to have seen so few bad films :-)

You rate Mean Streets pretty high... has it replaced Taxi Driver as your favorite Scorsese?
What does A Woman Under the Influence have that the much lower rated Cassavetes film A Child Is Waiting doesn't have? Just more interesting subject matter, or better direction or acting or ...?
Give Peckinpah's Straw Dogs a look.

Mean Streets is a great film, but for Scorsese I'd still prefer Taxi Driver, Raging Bull and also the underrated After Hours.

As for Cassavetes A Woman Under the Influence was a revelation. A Child Is Waiting (one of the very few studio productions Cassavetes has made) on the other hand is (far from being a bad movie though) a cold, calculated film. AWUTI tops ACIW in every possible way. Gena Rowlands is (at least to me) a much better actress than Judy Garland, and I also prefer AWUTI because it is a more personal work.

Thanks for the tipp. I try to catch as much of Peckinpah's work as possible.

1922 - Now that you're back, I just wanted to let you know that I watched Taxi Driver twice during your absence and absolutely loved it. It is my favorite Scorsese.

Ah, glad to hear that. I just read your comment here, and agree on your thoughts.

If you ever want to discuss it, just let me know.
That reminds that I wanted to put up an extensive article about Taxi Driver (actually I have read an **almost** scene-per-scene analysis, of which I wanted to share the most interesting parts here on listology).
