- 08/02/04- Buffalo '66- A really interesting, and visually unique film... Vincent Gallo creates a really fascinating character who you sympathize with, but who is really a terrible human being... The scenes are constructed in a very interesting way, visually, which adds to the sense of disorientation that the film creates. Beautifully shot, with a lot of cool visual ideas, and a very beautiful message about how love can heal people. 8/10
- 08/06/04- Saved!- A very funny, very warm film about finding religion on your own terms. Intelligent, surprisingly romantic with great performances by a very wry Macauley Culkin and (surprisingly enough) Mandy Moore. 9/10
- 08/15/04- Amelie- Quirky, wildly imaginative and very funny and romantic. I really enjoyed this film. It looks beautiful, the acting is wonderful and in the end it lifts your spirits and makes you feel really good about life. 9/10

I'm not in the most critical mood this month, so the reviews are kind of short...

Guess how many movies I've seen in August already? Sadly it's more than 10.
I have no life.
"Buffalo '66" is one of my favorite movies ever ever ever. Ricci's best performance, too.
And I've only seen five movies this month, but I haven't disliked any of 'em. So I guess this month is off to a good start. (It'd have to be, after July closed out with "The Village".)
