Author Comments: 

One time, five out of the ten movies I saw in one week contained a suicide. I thought that was odd. Then I noticed it's a common plot device, so I did a keyword search to see how common. There are 2061 movies/TV listings in IMDB which have the keyword "suicide." This does not necessarily mean that the movie includes a suicide or suicide-attempt. It could just come up in the dialogue, or as a theme. I've listed here only the ones I've seen as of 9-15-05.
