Movies I Would Never Publically Admit I Like...Until Now!

- - "Mafia!": This way-too-silly parody of mobster films is really quite stupid, but what works for me are the late, great Lloyd Bridges as the family patriarch (and a bumbling idiot at that) and the scene which mocks the restaurant shooting in "The Godfather". Some of the laughs will surely make you groan, but there are definitely some funny moments here.
- - "Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo": I was home recovering from surgery (I'll save that story for a rainy day) and my wife had rented a few movies, of which this was one of them. I watched this one under protest...and laughed my ass off! I know this is going to sound like a stretch, but it's not as stupid as it seems, and the laughs are genuine. Plus, the gross-out jokes are kept to a refreshing minimum. I saw it again months later and still laughed as hard.
- - "Horror Express" (aka "Panic on the Trans-Siberian Express): File this under cheesy horror. But when you've got two horror legends in Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee battling a not-so-nice prehistoric creature onboard a train, the chills come at you like a locomotive...oh, bad pun! It's a pretty low-budget horror film, but when it's on (and that's rarely), I'll sit through it.
- - "Sgt. Kabukiman, NYPD": From the same fools that brought you the low-budget epic "The Toxic Avenger" comes a tale of a NYC police detective who is given superpowers by a kabuki actor (!). The scene where our hero is asked who he is and replies "I'm Kabukiman!" is priceless for its sheer stupidity. A classic in the annals of bad comedy.
- "Orgaszmo": A Mormom travels to L.A. to take an acting job, not realizing he's signed on to play a superhero in a porn film. Highlights include Orgaszmo's sidekick Choada Boy, and the sushi bar owner who thinks he's ghetto fabulous. Brought to you by those polite, squeaky-clean boys that bring us "South Park" every week.

You've made me feel pretty good about my "Guilty Pleasures" list. :-) From your writeup, I'm tempted to add Deuce Bigalow to my "to see" list, but at the same time I feel myself cringing from the thought. It'll have to be spur-of-the-moment...
Don't fight the Troma!
