- The Vanishing - Jeff Bridges / Kiefer Sutherland version.
- National Lampoon's Vacation/Christmas Vacation: The best two films of the Vacation series - hilarious throughout, and good entertainment anytime.
- Grease - Love that music!
- Breakdown - Great tense thriller, surprisingly quite unknown.
- Bruce Almighty - Among Jim Carrey's better flicks.
- Jingle All The Way - Who doesn't like a feel-good Christmas movie?
- To Grandmother's House We Go - Ditto as above. And it's before the Olsen twins turned into stardom whores.
- The Cable Guy - Underrated dark Carrey classic.
- Matchstick Men - say what you want, I did not see that twist coming! Oustanding performances from both Cage and Lohman too.
Author Comments:
These are basically films I like, and whilst not universally respected, I'm not ashamed of enjoying. Movies generally appreciated, such as "Misery" and "Shawshank Redemption", are hence not included. Comments welcomed.

Well, I thought Bruce Almighty was pretty fun. Other than that, can't say I'm a fan of any of the rest of those. :-)
Didn't expect you to really.
1. The National Lampoon's movies starring Chevy Chase and Beverly d'Angelo were really fun.
2. 'Breakdown' is a good movie, too, with a great Kurt Russell.
3. I haven't seen the rest.
Nice list!
I can go for all but the Vanishing.
2 questions. Why didn't you like the original? Did you like the ending of the new one?
T'ho
:?)
PS. I may have to steal this list...er clone it.
Thanks for the comment, 1922!
Stooky - the original was ok, but I much preferred the Sutherland one, mainly because I'm a a massive fan of Kiefer, and Jeff Bridges, and I did indeed prefer the ending of the newer one, no matter how odd that is.
I liked Bruce Almighty. Breakdown is right out of my nightmares.
Thanks for endorsing me :).
Cool, cool.. and heh, no problem!
I like Bruce Almighty. And I like Grease too. Oh yes indeed!
Great! :)
Jingle all the way is such a great movie! i love it. Arnie is a legend :-)
Yay, someone else loves it! :D I agree, Arnie is great, and I like Sinbad's part in the film too.
yeah Sinbad was great. he gave two of the best lines in the movie:
---------------------
"We get one day a year to prove we're not screw-ups and what do we do? We screw it up."
"I'm not a pervert! I was just looking for a Turbo Man doll!"
----------------------
Both of those have me in stiches.
Hehe yep. Glad I have that movie on DVD now, I think I'll watch it! ;D
Hey, The Cable Guy!
I've always been a fan of that movie, and have found it criminally underrated. Glad someone else feels the same way.
Yep, much maligned - up there with Carrey's best.
Good call on the Cable Guy. It's the only movie I can STAND Jim Carrey in.
I also love the Vacations.
Vacation, Christmas Vacation, Grease, Bruce Almighty, The Cable Guy, Matchstick Men...I like all of those! :)
