great idea for a list! nice one!

ah, nostalgia...

Interesting, Lion King was a favorite before Aladdin? How did you happen to see them out of order?

I didn't watch a lot of movies when I was younger. I had watched Bambi, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, etc. Interestingly, even at the age of 10, my strict parents had no reservations about Lion King, but they didn't like the occasionally scantily clad Jasmine and the evil magic of Aladdin. So, one summer, I actually watched Lion King a30+ times because I had nothing else to do, and it was one of the few videos our family owned that I really liked. A year or so later, I watched Aladdin and liked it even better than Lion King (though, I was probably sick of it by then).

My movie history is kind of interesting in that I was 'behind' nearly anyone my age due to my parents' film phobia until the age of 18. Now, over the past year and change, I've watched so many films that I'm 'ahead' of almost everyone my age in film watching (barring fanaticts like AJDaGreat). None of this as a matter of shame or pride, but as a dramatic leap from one end of the movie watching spectrum to the other in one year.

I hear ya, man. If you had been around Listology December 2003, you would've seen a whole string of lewd movies pop up on my Damn list after I turned 17. It was Y Tu Mama Tambien, Blue Velvet, Pulp Fiction, Boogie Nights, Natural Born Killers, Sex Lies and Videotape, Requiem for a Dream, Last Tango in Paris, and Mulholland Drive all within a few weeks. By now, I barely even notice movie ratings anymore, whereas a couple years ago it was a major controller of my movie viewing patterns.

Luckily, my parents never had any objections to any G- or PG-rated movies (Aladdin was one of my favorites as a kid too), and I could see almost all PG-13-rated movies fairly early.

Hehe, yup I don't notice ratings anymore, either, but yeah, they were definitely a big thing when I was under my parents' thumb.

Heheh Condorman, I guess I was six or seven when it was released in the theaters... I saw that with my mom, the bad guy with the glass eye was played by a french actor, Jean-Pierre Kalfon... I remember enjoying the movie extremely well... one of Disney's less "disneyesque" movies.

I just liked all the cool vehicles wings and stuff. :-)
