I'm sure I'm missing a few, but this are the scenes that get to me time and time again, and have caused me to lose sleep.

How about the 'chest-burster' scene in ALIEN, the final scene in INVASION OF THE BODYSNATCHERS when Donald Sutherland turns and hisses at us, or the lunatic asylum scenes in EXORCIST III - in particular, when the figure-in-white strides across the hallway, arms outstretched, after the nurse?
Ooh! Good list and good additions! I thought Exorcist III deserved more attention than it got, and that hallway scene has stuck with me for a long time (but if I remember correctly, the figure in white is holding something, which makes the scene even scarier).
Since I've been over-posting this movie anyway, I'll plunge ahead . . . There's a Great Scene in Deep Blue Sea (but while it has some very tense and/or bloody scenes, it probably qualifies more as an action movie than a scary movie).
How about the rabbit scene from Fatal Attraction (might be a couple other additions in that movie, as well)?
Maybe the hallway scene from The Shining? And while I'm looking at the IMDb Top 50 Horror Movies, it seems like scenes from Rosemary's Baby or Misery ought to qualify, but I can't think of any that stand out in my mind (even though I liked both movies), so I guess not.
How about the hospital scene from SIXTH SENSE when the young star confides in Bruce Willis, "I see dead people" Chilling!
