By most beautiful, I mean films that are wonderful to behold, the type of motion pictures that show why TV will never replace the movie theatre. I do not claim that these films are the best in terms of plot or character (though each has its merits in these qualities) but rather are visually impressive.

Just really pretty flicks.

I have recently seen that one. Impressive. Perhaps I should add it to my list. The reds and oranges and yellows are stunning.

I think the Last Emperor belongs here, too. It's been years since I've seen it, but I recently saw some clips from it again, (along with Raise the Red Landtern), and they are both extremely lush and visually stunning productions. Bertolucci seems well suited to this list.
