Most Annoying Movie Quotes

Tags:
  1. "You like pain? Try wearing a corset." (Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl) - what a silly, annoying thing to say. I so badly wanted one of the pirates to slam the hook at the end of his hand into something and declare, "Try getting your fucking hand chopped off!" Oh, a corset's maybe not so bad now, eh snobby, spoiled girl?
  2. "I've been reading poetry" (Spider-Man 2) - in another context, this could have been the best line of Spider-Man 2, because it so rightly exemplified Peter's feeble attempts to re-attract Mary Jane. Instead, in a movie of melodramatic dialogue, such a line feels terribly out of place.
  3. "I know Kung Fu." (The Matrix) - not a bad line, really, but Keanu's delivery was terrible. Indeed, all of his bad acting in that movie is best represented right at this moment. Thanks to 5intheface.
  4. "I guess they must have done something to us" (The Abyss) - unecessary plot non-explanation. Thanks to jim.

PLEASE nominate other lines :-)

About 1/2 of Jerry Maguire.

But I love "Show me the money".

Tallyho

:?)

"I know Kung Fu"

That was pretty goofy. I didn't like the first Matrix movie and i sure as hell didn't see the others.

Well, I love the first Matrix movie, but Keanu is definitely the worst part. It's like if Sofia Coppola had been cast in one of the first two Godfather movies, or something: awesome movie nearly brought down by an actor's terrible performance.

Cool, glad to see you used my idea. Lots of people like the first Matrix alot. I never really got into it. Keanu was a major reason, and that it the fight scenes are just kind of annoying to me. I don't really like the plot, and I think all the philosophy everyone says is in it is a bunch of crap. My take on it. I'm very passionate about my disliking of it. Not to offend anyone.

I think I've mentioned this elsewhere on this site, but "I guess they must have done something to us" (The Abyss) has etched its awfulness onto my brain forever.

And yes, that "corset" line was an unfortunate choice. Just about the only thing I didn't enjoy about that movie.

I can't remember that line at all in Abyss. Perhaps if you could remind me of the context I would recall it?

They're just back up at the surface and looking around amazedly. Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio says something like "we surfaced too fast; we should all be dead." And that's when the guy with the rat says, "I guess they must have done something to us." Gee Mr. Ratboy, now that Mary's unnecessarily pointed out the nonsensical plot point, thank you very much for compounding the gaffe with the lamest non-explanation ever. :-)

Oh, damn - unnecessary plot explanation! That happens in a ton of movies, but because I haven't memorized them all, I'll add yours :-)

Thus starting the debate...

Anal probes: cheap torture device or an ancient alien remedy for decompression?

sorry, couldn't resist

Tallyho

:?)

Actually, I thought that line was kinda funny.

I don't remember any lines in particular, but I remember Water World, The Godzilla movie from '98, And Speed having terrible lines in them.

Oh, I just saw Lost Highway. Here is a conversation you might remember that was even on the trailer (so no spoiler there)

Little scary man: "I'm even at your house right now"

Stupid guy: "That's f***ed up, man"

Not only delivered in the most stoner-esque, Keanu Reeves, flat voice, but its stupid to say. Can't say it doesn't match the movie though.

sorry, can't even find the trailer anywhere to watch it.

An incredibly stupid line in the preview for New York Minute was, "We are so not is Kansas anymore"

yeah, ugh.

Any movie starring a *pretty* teenage girl usually turns out to be trash, especially if the teenage girl(s) in question are already as rich as hell.......

Well, I enjoyed Clueless and Legally Blonde.

Reese Witherspoon was a teenager when she made Legally Blond?! And though I probably will bring down the wrath of many Listologist, I disliked Clueless.......

Nah, that's fine. It's more of a 'guilty pleasure' than anything for me.

Oh, that explains a lot:) You never struck me as a Clueless type of guy...;)

Oh, I've definitely known to be clueless about a great many things.
