That make you wonder...

  • Forms with fields that have way too much space for the zip code (at the most 9 characters), and way too little space for the name and/or street name, especially online.
  • How things creep into society subversively - I accidentally called the TV show Law & Order: SUV (instead of SVU) and didn't realize it until someone pointed it out to me.
  • Written words on fast food joint menus saying "Picture menus available upon request"
  • Insurance companies who deny your claim as "for services having occurred after your coverage had ended," when all that really happened was the dentist submitted the claim under your SSN, not your new "private" ID number. The person on the phone could look me up by SSN, but they couldn't match the claim to the new ID number when they processed it? what a waste of money!

I am always calling it Law & Order SUV, My wife has probably corrected me about twenty or thirty times before just giving up and letting me say it wrong.

Let me be the first to say it, that's "Special Unit Victims" (snicker).

T'ho

:?)

There are many locations that have a four digit extension to the regular 5 digit zipcode for full identification of the location in a highly-populated area.

yeah, but that's the thing - I've seen forms with space for all 9 digits and THEN some (See original list), but an equal or smaller amount for the street, etc. I'd say mostly these are online forms, but I'm reminded of all my friends named Christopher who went to take their standardized tests such as the SAT and could only fit "christophe". Seriously, with such a popular name, couldn't they just squeeze in ONE more column?
