re: swing mag, i found out some scoop. it lasted for five years (approx 93-98?) and was run by david lauren, son of ralph. here's what i heard about it folding:
David Lauren was forced to shut down Swing magazine recently because, as he put it, "To advance to the next level would require... a willingness to commercialize the editorial vision of the magazine." (When the son of Ralph Lauren starts complaining about commercialization, it's a clear sign of the impending apocalypse.)
