Live Performances Seen in 2003

  • Alive Theatre presents - Liar, a play by Christopher Shore : Of the little bit of theatre I have seen, Alive is my favourite troupe. They are a local group from Halifax who do some very funny stuff. Liar was very good play about a playwriter who is writing a horrible murder mystery that is so bad one of the characters wants to go to the real world and kill him. Very well done with a twist of an ending. This was actually the second time I have seen Liar I first saw it two years ago when it was just a one act play in a festival, but they revamped it a bit and extended it two acts. I thought it was great both times.

  • The Bar Mitzvah Show - Just For Laughs Comedy Festival : I am in Montreal this week for a conference and the first night here was also the last night of the Just for Laughs comedy festival. My colleague and I were lucky enough to get the last two tickets for the last show of the night. This was my first time seeing live stand up comedy and I enjoyed the show. All of the performers were good, and I thought two in particular were quite good.

  • Cherry Docs, a Bunnies in the Headlights production : My wife volunteered us to be ushers for this show. It was a very good play about a Jewish lawyer defending a Neo-Nazi. I believe it will be touring through Canada for the next year and recommend seeing it to any that get the chance.

I changed this from plays to live performances since standup comedy isn't really a play but I felt that it went with plays better then anything else.
