I personally don't agree with some of these wins. I think Stanley Kramer's Judgment at Nuremberg was a better film than West Side Story. I found Witness and The Color Purple more compelling and entertaining than Out of Africa. Sydney Pollack is a great director, but Out of Africa certainly wasn't his best work. Tootsie was a far better film. But, these are the ones the Academy chose to honor.
