  • Comment: Leonard, Leonard, Leonard, what went wrong? Wall of Sound? Phil Spector? Excuses, excuses! Question marks, question marks! Oh, wait. Good writing? Good songs? Phil Spector did strike. While I am one of the few people who actually liked the wall of sound treatment on the Beatles' Let It Be, it just doesn't work when applied to Cohen's more intimate style. While it's still a good album, it's just not even close to his previous albums. With the exception of the opening and ending, that is. Obviously.
