Author Comments:
Albums are not in order of preference
I followed a 'no-more than 2 albums per artist' rule as laid down by Glenn Drexhage and no compilations, greatest hits or EPs allowed

Great list, mate!
what the sixth letter of the alphabet ? there are no albums on this list dating earlier than 77 or 78... that's not very serious... and there is no way you can make up a defense for Avalon as being the best Roxy album!!! Anything post-Siren is inferior Roxy and of course that's only my opinion but I will always prefer a crazy innovative band to a going-through-the-motions FM single band and that's exactly the difference between what Roxy were at their glorious beginning and what they ended up being...
Aw, c'mon Oasis never made two good albums, Definitely Maybe can be takken into consideration but that's absolutely all...
And where are the Auteurs? and the LA's? and what about Housemartins/The Beautiful South?
One Bowie album and two U2 albums ? That's utter bollocky nonsense...
Talking of bollocks where are your punk-rockers ? Listing London Calling can't be considered enough, especially with two bloody Oasis albums in the list!!!
Oh, wait I got more... The Kinks ? The Who ? The Small Faces ? Genesis ? Queen ? (gosh I hate Queen but they have as many reasons to be included as, say, Duran Duran or Tears for Fears).
There, I hope my post was offensive and venomous enough to earn a reply :)
Naturally, a reply. I won't pretend the list is any way a comprehensive list of 'classic British albums' but simply what i've loved grown up listening to. And my years were the last 20 with occasional nods to learn more. Sure I could list classic albums by artists you've mentioned (though I may struggle with Genesis and The Beautiful South), but if I'm going to be honest? I don't turn to them as ofetn as others.
And if you do like the 'crazy innovative band to a going-through-the-motions FM single band' - what's with the namecheck of The La's who really were a single(s) band?
That's right, you got me there heheh... thanks for the explanations.
