Good Morning, Good Morning, Otis Redding, and Love on here. Great calls!

I think a few Beach Boys and XTC songs might be good candidates here.

Shalom, y'all!

yes yes. we'll look into that.

intersting post, but i would definitely call the horns on The Bnad's "Rag Mama Ram" jazz inspired, as well and especially Stevie Wonder's "Sir Duke.

An old favorite of mine, Fishbone, should be able to find a home here.

you are so right.

A band from Idaho, Black Happy, used a lot of horns in their albums. Check out Peg Head. They have since disbanded.

I didn't even think of Tusk. Great call!

Shalom, y'all!

I sorta got the spooks at making suggestions right now, but have you heard the old Neil Diamond song "Solitary Man". I used to love the horns in that.

jukejoint - I'm only obscure cos I'm old.

Nevermind... just horn blurts.

Herb Alpert anyone?

hee hee...

I was actually serious. What are horns to you.

my bad, stumpy. i keep running afoul of ye. i was just thinking of Spanish Flea, which makes me giggle. i have tremendous respect for your knowledge of rock 'n' roll, and i'm not trying to ignore or mock you. i've just been insane busy with my non-computer commitments (school girlfriend church etc.).

that said, this list is about songs that utilize horns in a way that is unique, hooky, or distinctive. it's a broad category, and i'm trying to restrict it to groups that would be considered rock/indie. obviously, i may stray from that just because this is supposed to be a fun list. i confess to you that 'spanish flea' is essentially the limit of my conscious Herb Alpert knowledge. that's all. any recommendations you have will be held in high esteem.

It was just an itch I needed to scratch. Unfortunately, it spread.

Interesting list, I like it! Also, if you're into They Might Be Giants at all, they have some cool songs with horns. Two that spring to mind immediately are "Doctor Worm" and "No One Knows My Plan."

my roommate bought "Dial-a-Song", so I should pilfer it for a spell...

im surprised spottiottiedopalicious by outkast isnt on here
