I'm sure many, many more will come to me. Why are indie bands so d--- self-righteous? If they're so worried about selling out, maybe they shouldn't record or tour at all; wouldn't want them becoming "professional" musicians, now would we?

You don't like their attitude? I can definitely understand that, but you don't like these guys' music at all?
Dude, you are high!
The attitude thing is simply a postscript to the list. I honestly don't like the music of these artists; Belle and Sebastian need some Prozac, Stereolab is too precious with their French vocals and what not, Sebadoh is doing lo-fi that other artists have done better, and Elephant 6 bands just trade on "retro is cool" attitude. Now don't get me wrong: that doesn't mean I think they are horrible artists or not worthy of being liked, I'm just explaining that I do have reasons to dislike these bands based on their music, not just their views on "selling out." I like a fair share of other 90s indie acts, including Cat Power, Pavement, Liz Phair, Grandaddy, Tortoise (at times), Boss Hog, Sleater-Kinney, Bikini Kill, etc., so it's not that I have a prejudice against indie acts either (some of the ones I like are also as self-righteous as they come!). Anyway, if you disagree, tell me why...

Please don't take this the wrong way, my friend, but occasionally, Johnny, I fear you find preciousness in what might just be natural. Stereolab uses French vocals because the lead vocalist, Laetitia Sadler, IS French.
Just thought I'd mention that in defence of such a great band...
Shalom, y'all!

"Oh like that big faker Winston Churchill!" :-)
What a poser...
Shalom, y'all!

(sniff) I fear I am being ambushed (tear). That is all right; I will gain strength from this persecution and stand strong against the languidly decadent continental neo-grooves of Stereolab. "Emperor Tomato Ketchup" indeed...

Someone asked if you were high earlier. I want to ask that again. Guided By Voices Clayton. They rock. They are great. Also, I would like you to investigate a band called Butterglory. Check em' out, tell me what you think.
I'll check out Butterglory, and pass on commenting again on GBV;)
Johnny Waco
As to who "Clayton" is I have no idea; MY name is Johnny Waco;)

Nah, that's fine that you don't dig them. I just wanted to clear up that the band probably isn't being precious when the lead vocalist sings in her native tongue.
Shalom, y'all!
L. Bangs
No, singing in French because it is one's native tongue doesn't make one precious; however, believing this makes you cooler than other bands does...
Johnny Waco
Sorry dude. I must have got confused. Much love...
No problemo!
